Kevin Na took home a win at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas.

In case you didn’t get enough golf to satiate your needs this week, Kevin Na and Patrick Cantlay decided to play a couple of extra holes at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open this week to determine the winner.

After an incredible 36-hole stretch by Kevin Na on Friday and Saturday, Sunday was much more “normal” for Na. He finished the week with 68-62-61-70, which allowed Cantlay to catch up to him on Saturday and force a playoff.

They would play the 18th and each made 3, which means they would walk back and play it again. That’s all that it took to determine the winner. Cantlay would card a five after three-putting and Kevin Na a four, as Na was able to take down his first victory of the 2020 golf season.

Although it is his first victory of the season, it becomes his third in the last 15 months. He won the Charles Schwab last season, and the Greenbriar the year before prior to that event being changed to a fall schedule appearance.

Na made it an interesting Sunday for anyone watching, especially once he got to the back nine. A three-shot lead would be erased during this time on the tenth hole when Na stunned all those watching with a triple-bogey 7.

There would be more struggles to come, as Na would give the lead away for the first time all day with a bogey on the 16th after he found the water.

Cantlay let him back into it on the 17th after he did the same thing. Both players would birdie 18 to force the playoff.

Na played incredible over Friday and Saturday, putting together one of the best 36-hole stretches you will ever see. Normally, if a golfer shoots 62 it is going to be their best round of the week. Not so for Na, who went out the very next day and played even better by shooting a 61.

Six birdies, two eagles, and one bogey would be followed up by a bogey-free ten birdie round on Saturday, setting the stage for Na to be in control of the leaderboard on Sunday.

There were a few golfers who tried to make a push on Sunday to catch him, but the lead that Kevin Na built up was too much to overcome.

Other Notable scores

Both Bryson DeChambeau and Adam Hadwin shot 63 on Sunday, tying for the top score of the final round. It was enough to get them into the top five, helping them finish T-4th.

Nick Taylor started off Thursday sitting alone atop the leaderboard, but slowly fell down the leaderboard all week. He finished 69-69-69 and would end up T-29th.

Jack Trent (a) would take the best score for any amateur in the event, shooting -14, good enough for T-29th as well.

Matthew Wolff finished strong with a 65 on Sunday, which helped him climb into the top 20. He would finish T-18th at -15.

A strong group of golfers finished T-9th. Denny McCarthy, Lucas Glover, Tony Finau, and Joel Dahmen all made it to -18, taking home over $200,000 each, and gaining some nice FedEx Cup points in the process.

Next up on the PGA schedule is the Houston Open at the Golf Club of Houston Tournament Course.
