The PGA Tour travels to South Korea for the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges. This event presents the fantasy golf community with an elite field of talent that includes the number one player in the world, Brooks Koepka.

Before I discuss my Draftkings/fantasy golf selections for the week, let’s briefly look at the golf course the field will contend with this week, my DFS strategy, and the key statistics that I will be focusing on for this event.

The Club at Nine Bridges is a par 72 that measures approximately 7,196 yards. The course is located on Mount Halla in Jeju Island, South Korea. It should be noted that this track plays at altitude. The golf course has five holes where water hazards are in play. Additionally, the greens at the Club at Nine Bridges are Bentgrass.

This track’s primary defense is wind. When the winds are high the golf course can be extremely difficult. However, when the course has little to no wind, this track can be very easy for PGA Tour players.

It should be noted, that as of this writing, the weather forecast is indicating that the wind will be relatively calm for all four days of the tournament. If that forecast is accurate, I think that the winner of this week’s tournament will post a final score of around 20 under par.

This tournament is unique due to the fact that the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges has a very limited field of 78 golfers. Additionally, the tournament will not have a traditional cut after two rounds.

From a DFS strategy standpoint, this PGA tournament certainly presents some challenges to fantasy golf players. In my opinion, in order to take down a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest for this event, fantasy golf players must be willing to take on more risk as they construct player pools than they would for traditional PGA Tour events.

Due to the fact this tournament has no cut and a limited field you have to find a way to separate your lineup from the rest of the field in order to win a DraftKings contest. For me, the only way to do that is to assume more risk.

The statistics I will be focusing on this week are birdie or better percentage, driving accuracy, strokes gained approach, and putts per GIR (greens in regulation).

Let’s shift our attention to my DraftKings Selections for the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges!

Justin Thomas $11,700

As I reviewed player statistics for this event, it became clear to me rather quickly that Justin Thomas would be my top selection to win the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges this week.

Let me elaborate as to why I feel so strongly about Mr. Thomas’s chances to win on Sunday.

I mentioned previously in this article that I felt the winning score for this tournament would be very low. If that holds true then my top player selection needs to have the ability to score early and often in a golf tournament. Well, J.T. can certainly do just that.

Let’s take a look at some data that illustrates Justin Thomas’s ability to score.

Since Thomas has only played one event so far this season, let’s take a look at a few statistics from the season that just concluded. Thomas ranked first on the PGA Tour last season in birdie or better percentage.

Additionally, Thomas ranked first on Tour last season in birdie average per round. Thomas played 72 total rounds last season. In those 72 rounds, Thomas accumulated 330 birdies! That is an average of 4.58 birdies per round. That is clearly outstanding.

As far as the current form goes, well, J.T. checks that box as well. Thomas finished fourth at the Safeway Open in September. J.T. also won the BMW Championship in August. It has to be said that Thomas won the BMW Championship with a score of 25 under par!

I also love the fact that Justin Thomas has outstanding course form on this golf course. Thomas won the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges in 2017.

Yes, I know that Thomas has a DraftKings price of $11,700. I am fine with that. In my opinion, Thomas is worth the high price point this week.

If you are looking for additional golfers to complete your Draftkings/fantasy golf lineups I also like the following players to possibly top 20 this week.

Rafa Cabrera Bello $9,600

RCB has two top-six finishes in his last three events, including a second-place finish at the Open de Espana two weeks ago. Additionally, he finished third at last year’s CJ Cup at Nine Bridges.

Andrew Putnam $8,500

Putnam arrives in South Korea with two top 21 finishes in his last two events.

Chez Reavie $8,300

He has two consecutive top 15 finishes at the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges.

Charles Howell III $7,600

Howell finished fourth at the Safeway Open in September.

Brian Stuard $6,900

He has two consecutive top 17 finishes on the PGA Tour. In my opinion, Stuard has the game to possibly sneak into the top 10 this week.
