There are certain weeks on the schedule that shorter hitters circle on the calendar. This is one of them.

Chez Reavie and his like are brought back into the fold at this sub-7,000 yard layout where hitting fairways is more of a premium. The former Arizona State Sun Devil led the Tour last year with 75.72% driving accuracy. He was 158th in distance (287). He’s just hoping El Camaleon has a good drainage system to keep the bombers from dominating.

Reavie parlayed playing into the short grass into plenty of birdie opportunities. He ranked fifth in fairway proximity (29’3”). The 37-year-old was first in proximity from 200-225 yards (38’11”) and second from 150-175 (23’7”).

He ended an 11-year drought by picking up his second career PGA Tour win at the 2019 Travelers Championship. He won by four and beat a field featuring DeChambeau, McIlroy, Day, etc. Reavie made it all the way to the Tour Championship where he finished T-5.

He is coming to El Camaleon for the seventh time. He’s 6-for-6 making the cut and finished T-4 in 2016 (70-67-63-67). He’s been in the top 30 each of the last three years.

Reavie didn’t play his best over in Asia, but I like him to bounce back at a good tournament for him.
