RSM Classic Power Rankings: Ranking the top ten golfers at Sea Island
Fair warning, there are plenty of Georgia Bulldogs in this week’s RSM Classic rankings. Harris English is the first.
The Valdosta, Georgia native is making his eighth start in his home state event. English has had modest success with five made cuts including a T-15 in his 2012 debut.
I’m riding with him more because of his recent form. The 30-year-old was in the thick of things last week at the Mayakoba Golf Classic. English fired 65-64-68-70 to finish solo fifth.
That’s already his fourth top-10 of the 2019-2020 season, more than he had in the last two-plus years combined.
English looked good after four weeks off following a T-4 at the Houston Open. He began the season with a T-3 at A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier, added a T-6 at the Sanderson Farms Championship and his worst finish was a T-33 at the Safeway Open.
These are great signs for a player who is seeking his first PGA Tour win since winning twice in 2013.
English ranks eighth on Tour in strokes gained off the tee (.842), 24th in stroked gained on approach (.793) and 32nd in strokes gained putting (.717).
He’s 13th in birdie average (4.85) and seventh in scoring average (69.007).
