Chris Kirk (2013) +9000

No, not Christian Kirk, the receiver for the Arizona Cardinals. I’m talking about Chris Kirk, the golfer.

He won this tournament back in 2013, taking home the victory by one stroke over Briny Baird and Tim Clark. He was able to withstand a fantastic final day by Clark, who shot 62 to put the pressure on. Kirk came into the final round tied with Baird, but his 66 compared to the 67 of Baird was enough to win by a stroke.

Kirk played in the Mayakoba last week, finishing in a T-33rd. He faltered a bit on the final day, shooting an even-par 71. It’s good news for Kirk, who struggled a bit last season. He played in 17 events, missing the cut in 11 of them. He is looking to get back into his form from 2018, where he made the cut in 24 of 29 events.

Not only did he play well that season, but he made a run at becoming a repeat winner at the RSM Classic. He would finish T-4th, shooting 63-70-64-71 throughout the week. He had finished T-4th before as well, nearly going back-to-back in 2013 and 2014, as he finished two shots back of the winner in 2014.

He’s shown a nice propensity for playing here in the past, and I like him to make a strong run at becoming a repeat winner this week as my first sleeper.
