European Tour Fantasy Golf: Alfred Dunhill Championship

With the PGA Tour on an extended break, the European Tour takes center stage with the Alfred Dunhill Championship. Draftkings is offering a number of outstanding fantasy golf contests for this tournament!
Before I dive into my fantasy golf selections for this tournament, let’s briefly look at the golf course the field will play this week and the approach I will take to compiling player lineups for Draftkings contests.
The Alfred Dunhill Championship will be played at Leopard Creek Country Club in South Africa. This golf course is a Gary Player design. The track is a par 72 that measures 7,287 yards. Based on the winning scores from previous champions of this event, this course appears to fall on the easier side for professional golfers. The course currently offers bermuda grass greens. It should be noted that the greens were changed from Bentgrass to Bermuda grass in 2018.
This event has been played at Leopard Creek Country Club for several years.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find previous statistical data from the previous events played at this event. The European Tour website only has the final tournament scores from previous years. The site states that previous golfer statistics for this specific tournament are, “unavailable.”
Due to the fact I could not evaluate key statistical data from the previous events played at Leopard Creek, I simply relied on the data that I obtained regarding golfers that have performed well on this golf course previously as I drafted lineups for Draftkings contests.
Let’s shift our focus to my player selections for the Alfred Dunhill Championship!
Brandon Stone $9,600
The 26-year-old South African has outstanding previous course form and decent current form. That is a combination I frankly love in fantasy golf! There is no doubt in my mind that Stone will be in the majority of my Draftkings lineups.
To validate my strong opinion regarding Stone as my top player pick for this event, let’s take a look at Stone’s previous history at the Alfred Dunhill Championship and his current event form in more detail.
Brandon Stone has played the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek Country Club three times. His previous results at this event are the 18th place finish in 2015, a win in 2016, and a 15th place result at last year’s playing of this golf tournament.
As far as the current form goes, well, he certainly checks that box for me as well. Stone arrives at this week’s event with two consecutive top 26 finishes on the European Tour, including a second-place finish at the Portugal Masters last month.
Zander Lombard $9,000
It has to be said that the young South African has been playing some great golf since the beginning of September. Zander has four top 26 finishes in his last five European Tour events, including an eighth-place finish at the Nedbank Golf Challenge earlier this month.
Oliver Wilson $7,700
Wilson finished fifth at the 2018 Alfred Dunhill Championship. He also has made the cut in his last three European Tour events.
Darren Fichardt $7,100
He has finished inside the top 28 five times at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, including a 12th place result in 2018.
Keith Horne $6,800
Horne plays primarily on the Sunshine Tour. He has two top 12 finishes in his last four tournaments on the Sunshine Tour. It also has to be said that Horne has shown he can play on the European Tour as well. An example of that ability to play on the European tour is his 10th place finish at the Hero Indian Open earlier this year.
