No. 18 Chez Reavie

Chez Reavie takes Dustin Johnson’s spot in the field after DJ withdrew to rest his recovering knee in advance of the Presidents Cup. He was the highest-ranked player as of the Aug. 26 rankings to accept the last-second invitation. This will be his Hero World Challenge debut. He’s a short hitter and hasn’t finished in the top 25 in his last six starts. Everyone in the field’s a great player, but someone’s got to finish last.

No. 17 Kevin Kisner

Kevin Kisner hasn’t finished higher than T-28 in four starts this fall. He may be fired up to prove Tiger Woods wrong for leaving him off the Presidents Cup team. He’s a short hitter, though, and finished T-12th in his only Hero World Challenge start in 2017.

No. 16 Jordan Spieth

Like Kisner, Spieth could be another one looking to show he could have been useful for the Americans at the Presidents Cup. His career resume is worthy, but his recent form is not. He hasn’t ranked this low in the world since becoming a pro and has no top-fives in his last 12 starts. Working in his favor is three top-sixes at Albany in three starts.

No. 15 Matt Kuchar

Kuchar uncharacteristically has three missed cuts in his last six starts and no top-10s since June. He tied for third at the 2016 Hero but had disappointing results in his other two appearances at Albany. His lack of length is also not a good fit for this event.
