Tiger Woods went 3-0 at the Presidents Cup. It turned out not to be a perfect weekend though.

After the conclusion of the Presidents Cup, everything seemed rosy for Tiger Woods. He went 3-0, and the US Team staged a spectacular comeback to defeat the International team, 16-14.

The news came out this week that not all was great for Tiger Woods. In fact, things looked pretty bad as of Saturday morning. At least according to one of his vice-captains, Fred Couples.

Couples made it known on the 18th that Tiger came into a meeting with him and the rest of the assistant captains, letting them know that he wasn’t going to be able to play that day.

"“Guys, my body is not going to let me go. I’m not going to play this afternoon”"

Despite repeated requests by Couples, Steve Stricker, and Zach Johnson, Woods was unable to try it, knowing that his body just wasn’t going to be able to do it.

It seemed like it would be the end of the plank for the US Team, as they were already down 5-9 to the International Team when Tiger told his crew. They were able to rally a bit and would go into the final day down 8-10.

If this news would’ve come out Saturday, when it happened, it might’ve broken social media.

The US Team would’ve been behind, without the GOAT, and prospects would’ve looked very bleak. Heck, it might have affected the morale of the entire US Team knowing that their player captain was physically unable to play, and would possibly not be with them for the remaining events.

Instead, it was all kept hush-hush until Couples held his Sirius XM radio show this week. Luckily for all of us, it was the perfect time for it to come out. Tiger Woods was able to come back on Sunday and get the day started off right for the US Team.

There was a great clip going around, where someone edited this video so that Tiger took his hat off instantly, going to shake Ancer’s hand with the ball still 10+ feet out. All the ones I saw have been removed for copyright issues… so hopefully, you are able to find it or had a chance to see it. It was a hilarious edit and had a few people believing that is how it actually went down.

It seemed like Tiger was nice and healthy throughout his match with Ancer. Part of it may have been Ancer, calling out earlier that he wanted Tiger.

"“I would like to play against Tiger (Woods),” Ancer said then. “But the truth is that our objective is to do everything we can to win. Winning a match in the singles would be very special, so we need to try to get the cup.”"

You need to be careful how you phrase wanting to play against Tiger Woods. Of course, everyone wants the opportunity to play against him and see what it is like. You just need to make sure it doesn’t sound like you want to play him cause you think it will get you a win.

Tiger’s response?

"“Abe wanted it, he got it,” Woods laughed."

It was really all fun and good, as Tiger knew that Ancer was talking more about the experience, which is what Ancer later said once it got brought up to him, mentioning that a bit of the tone and message was lost when it was translated from Spanish to English.

Luckily for us, the injury/stiffness that Tiger was feeling Saturday didn’t last, and he was able to get the win against Ancer, and lead the US Team to the comeback Sunday at the Presidents Cup.
