Abraham Ancer has become more well known in the golf world since the fall. There is still one thing that he is missing though, and that is a PGA Tour win.
Abraham Ancer started making his name known with a strong showing during the entirety of the FedEx Cup Playoffs last year. He then became known by a lot larger pool of people after his “run-in” with Tiger Woods at the Presidents Cup. It became huge on social media do to Tiger finishing him on and giving him a handshake as the ball went in the cup.
Regardless, Ancer is now a decently well-known name. What people may not know though is that he is actually a pretty good golfer, which is something that should become apparent to the rest of the golf world during the 2020 PGA Tour season.
Ancer has two wins, but neither of them has come on the PGA Tour. The first came during his time on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2015 when he won the Nova Scotia Open. In 2018, he won his first event on the European Tour when he won the Emirates Australian Open.

There is still one thing that is missing, and that is that elusive win on the PGA Tour. That isn’t to say that Abraham Ancer hasn’t come close a handful of times, including during the opening round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs last year. He finished second at the Northern Trust last year, losing to Patrick Reed by one stroke.
He had three other top-five finishes during the 2019 season as well, with the closest coming at the unofficial Handa Melbourne World Cup. He would bring home five top-ten finishes during the 2018 season, showing a record of consistency and top-level play.
He has been playing well this season already as well, already coming in with two top-ten finishes. He is getting close, and sooner or later, he is going to come home with a win.
If anything, the experience that he gained at the Presidents Cup will be a welcome benefit to him during the remainder of the 2020 season. It isn’t often that you get to go head-to-head with Tiger Woods during a high profile event. He wasn’t able to prevail, but he got the matchup that he wanted, just wanting the opportunity to see what it was like to play in a situation like that with the GOAT.
At some point during the 2020 season, it is going to help push Abraham Ancer over the edge and get that first win on the PGA Tour. The way he has been playing the last couple of years, it might just happen more than once.
