As we enter a new decade in professional golf, the PGA Tour has a lot of young talented golfers who will be looking to leave their mark on the Tour. Let’s take a look at some of these Future Golf Stars.

Four future golf stars, Joaquin Niemann, Sungjae Im, Viktor Hovland, and Abraham Ancer are all sure to see success in 2020 and for years to come. They’ve all had differing levels of success since becoming professionals.

Joaquin Niemann is a 21-year-old golfer from Chile. In September, he won his first tournament on tour by winning A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier. Niemann has three top 15 finishes this year on tour, and will certainly see more success.

Niemann will need to improve his putting as he ranked 141st on tour last season in strokes gained putting, according to PGATOUR.com. When he is on his game Niemann can compete with the best of the best. Currently, he sits at 54 in the Official World Golf Ranking. This year Niemann will likely crack the top-50 and if he can improve his putting, he will go a long way.

The next of the four future golf stars is Sungjae Im. The 21-year old from South Korea had seven top-10 finishes in 2019.  He has started 2020 well finishing T3 at the ZOZO Championship, and losing in a playoff to Sebastian Munoz in the Sanderson Farms Championship. In 2019 Im ranked 17th in total strokes gained, and 23rd in strokes gained around the green.

Im is currently ranked 35 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Im has one career victory, coming at the Genesis Championship in 2019. With his short game ability, Sungjae Im will be able to carry his recent success deep into this season. Im will be someone to watch at the majors this year, and could possibly become the second Asian golfer to win a major.

Viktor Hovland turned pro in 2019 and had a good rookie year on the PGA Tour highlighted by a T12 finish at the US Open and a 4th place finish at the Wyndham Championship. Hovland is currently 10th in strokes gained putting and 4th in overall strokes gained.

Hovland won the U.S. Amateur in 2018 and had a distinguished collegiate career. Hovland is sure to be a great golfer for years to come and while he currently is ranked 94th in the world Hovland will move up the rankings this year.

Last of the future golf stars for today is Abraham Ancer. He is older than the other golfers at 28 years old he turned pro in 2013, but only recently has he started to see a wave of success on tour. In 2019 he had ten top-25 finishes and four of those were top-10 finishes. Ancer is ranked 38th on the Official World Golf Rankings and has been playing great golf so far this season with top-10 finishes at the WGC-HSBC Champions and Mayakoba Golf Classic.
