Matt Kuchar has seen Pebble Beach as much as about anybody in this week’s field. The 41-year-old Georgian will make his 11th tournament appearance and 12th visit overall.

He’s made eight cuts, including a T-6 in 2007 (72-69-70-66). Kuchar played well at the US Opens here with a T-6 in 2010 (74-72-74-68) and T-16 (69-69-70-73) in 2019.

Kuch comes in off another T-16 last week at the Phoenix Open where he was under par each day (68-70-67-69). His ball-striking was on point as he hit 67.86% fairways and 73.61% GIR.

It’s easy for even the best players to miss the thumbnail greens at Pebble. Fortunately, Kuchar was 14th last season in sand save percentage (60.82%) and 18th in scrambling from inside 30 yards (37.29%).

While not a long-player by Tour standards, Kuchar is good at gaining ground on the par-5s, which could be useful with four of them in play this week (4.5).

Kuchar seeks his first top-10 of the 2019-2020 Tour season, but he has four top-20s and a win at the Asian Tour’s Singapore Open. This will be his fifth start in the last six weeks. Let’s see if all these reps can help him make the next step and win on Tour for the first time since the 2019 Sony Open.
