Pebble Beach Pro-Am: Power ranking the top 10 pros
Paul Casey has spanned the globe in his last four starts, going from Dubai to the Coachella Valley. No matter where the Englishman is at, his trademark consistency goes with him.
With a T-21 in his last start a few weeks ago at The American Express, Casey’s up to four top-25s in a row and six in his last eight.
The two weeks off has Casey rested coming into a tournament and course that suits his game. Casey missed the cut in his first two Pebble Beach Pro-Ams back in 2001 and 2002.
He didn’t come back to the Monterey Peninsula until 2018. Casey returned a more well-rounded player, and it showed with a T-8 in 2018 (67-70-70-70).
He improved to second place (69-64-67-71) two shots behind Phil Mickelson last year at this event that required a Monday morning finish due to darkness.
Casey finished T-21 (70-72-73-67) at the 2019 US Open.
He finished fourth on Tour in greens in regulation last season (70.96%). Casey is also top 20 in proximity from inside 175 yards, which is useful for hitting Pebble’s small greens.
Some players don’t handle pro-ams well, but it doesn’t seem to bother Casey. He helped his partner, Don Colleran, to an amateur win last year and has high finishes at The American Express, too.
