Dutchman Wil Besseling comes in at No.8 on ProGolfNow’s Power Rankings for the ISPS Handa Vic Open this week, despite having only featured at two European Tour events so far in the 2020 season.

Despite that, he sits inside the top 40 on the Race to Dubai leaderboard, thanks to a T3 finish at the season-opening Alfred Dunhill Championship, held in early December in South Africa.

The Dutchman’s only other appearance on the European Tour since came at the South African Open hosted by the City of Johannesburg, but he failed to make the cut at Randpark GC.

Besseling’s rise up the rankings will surely continue, having moved up from outside the top 600 to sit just outside the top 250 over the space of the last seven months.

His big rise started in September when he was given a national invitation to play in the KLM Open, the Netherlands’ premier golfing event on the European Tour. Besseling finished T-7th to announce himself on the world stage.

Following that, he had three more top 20 finishes as he came to the conclusion of the Challenge Tour, where he was able to secure his European Tour card for the 2020 campaign.

A T16 result at the Lalla Aïcha was followed by a T3 finish at the Hainan Open. The Dutchman then came home in a tie for 11th at the Challenge Tour Grand Final in November.

He may have only played in two events on the European Tour since the start of the season, but Besseling has talent, and this could be another good week for the Dutchman.
