After a rowdy and exciting Phoenix Open, the PGA Tour heads to the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

It’s a great one-two punch in the golf world for the rowdier crowds. After the Phoenix Open, we head to Pebble Beach. There are going to be parties, celebrities, and all kinds of excitement this week.

It provides a great chance for a lesser-known player or a sleeper candidate to put together a strong week and sneak in a win while everyone else is a bit distracted.

Before we get to this week’s picks, let’s take a second and look at how last week’s selections did.

More from Pro Golf Now

Corey Conners: T-45th (-5)

Billy Horschel: T-9th (-11): An up-and-down week saw him shoot 63-68-73-69

Kevin Na: MC

Harold Varner III: MC – an incredible 32 straight pars, and then traded birdies and bogeys to finish at even and miss the cut.

Chris Stroud: MC

Not a great week. If you did put some money on Horschel to finish top-10, you still would’ve come out ahead on the week, so I guess it isn’t all that bad in retrospect. The three missed cuts is a little concerning, and I will make sure to try and do better this week.

To keep with the standard, the cutoff for being considered is +5000. That eliminates 22 players. Here are the sleeper candidate picks to make some noise at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am this week.

Kurt Kitayama: +5500

There are plenty of rookies and youngsters on Tour this year. Why not go with one of the ones who are lesser-known, albeit just as talented. This is going to be his first appearance at Pebble Beach, and with all the noise around him, I feel that he could sneak by and make a run. He made his way on the Euro Tour, which is why not many are familiar with him. He won twice there, the AfrAsia Bank in 2018 and the Oman Open in 2019. I like him at +1300 for a top-five finish.

Jim Furyk: +6500

If you have been reading my articles since I started at Pro Golf Now, you know that I love Jim Furyk’s game. He is one of my favorite golfers of all-time and is likely second to only Tiger Woods. None of the courses this week are long, which is perfect for Furyk. He is 1st on both driving accuracy and in GIR this season, over 80% in both. He may be 49, but he has a great game for Pebble Beach, and I like him to win this week.

Wyndham Clark: +8000

If you were watching the Phoenix Open last week, you instantly wanted to see how Clark was doing after his incredible opening round of 61. He struggled the rest of the way, but it was a welcome sign to see Clark showing the ability to play strong again. This is only his 2nd appearance at Pebble Beach, and he should be more comfortable here.

I like him to put up a similar performance to the one that he did at the CJ Cup, where he shot 71-67-67-71 and finished T-8th. Which is why I see him finishing in the top-ten, which you can get at +850.

Scott Stallings: +8000

Stallings is my off the wall pick this week, and you may be a bit surprised to see his odds as high as they are. The reason is because of how well he plays at this event. His last three finishes are 3rd, 7th, and T-14th. It’s easily been the most consistent location for Stallings over the last few years, and there is no reason to think it’s going to stop. I feel most confident of any of my picks this week taking him at +850 for a top-ten finish.

Si Woo Kim: +19000

I’m taking Kim to get back on track here. He has struggled lately, withdrawing from one and missing the cut at three others over his last four entries. What helps is going to a course that you have a good history at. Last year Kim finished T-4th, shooting 66-71-69-68. He has consistently been one of the better players on tour around the green since joining the PGA Tour, and Pebble Beach is somewhere that fits him well. Don’t be surprised to see him play well here, and getting +750 for a top-twenty finish is a no-brainer.
