Adam Scott won this week at the Genesis Invitational. Golfers everywhere should take note, as Scott looks to be playing some incredible golf.

If you told me it has been nearly four years since Adam Scott won a PGA Tour event, and nearly just as long since his last win in general, I would call you a liar.

I would be wrong.

Those wins? They were actually back-to-back events once again when he won the Honda Classic and followed it with a win at the last iteration of the WGC-Cadillac back in March of 2016.

This time around, he won the Australian PGA Championship over on the European Tour at the end of December. He then took a month and a half off, next playing at the Genesis… which he won.

It’s a bit surprising that he went so long without winning. Scott has one of the prettiest swings on tour, and always “seems” to be in contention. A big reason for this was the change that was instituted a few years ago on the PGA Tour. That you could no longer anchor your putter, which is something that Adam Scott had always done.

It’s a small sample size of 12 measured rounds on the PGA Tour this season, but he seems to have figured it out. He is currently 15th in SG at .691, and when you combine that with his great play on approach shots (11th) and around the green (8th), it makes sense why he is playing so well. In fact, he is 8th overall currently.

There is only one downside to his game right now, and that is off the tee. A big part of that comes from missing fairways, where he is below 200th, only hitting them 53.6% of the time. Likely, this is an outlier and something that will get back to normal. If you want to see consistency, check out his SG rankings off the tee over the last ten years.

Definitely not worried about him picking it back up. He has finished outside the top 25 only twice. Adam Scott is a consistency beast off the tee, and will likely get back to it.

If all of this comes together, we could see one of the best runs over the last 13 years or so. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Scott put together somewhere in the  5-7 win range, and hold a nice lead at the Tour Championship come to the end of the PGA Tour and FedEx Cup season.

The area I think we could really see him shine and improve upon his career would be at majors. For how good he has been for the last 15-20 years, Scott only has one major win. With nine top-fives and 19 top-tens, he has been in a position multiple times to win majors. The only time that he was able to do so was in 2013 when he beat Angel Cabrera in a playoff to win The Masters.

Golf world beware. When Adam Scott is putting well, he is one of the best and most well-rounded players on Tour.
