The FedEx Cup Standings have a new entrant into the top five this week, as Patrick Reed’s victory at the WGC-Mexico Championship vaulted him into that fifth spot.

There were an extra 50 points on the line this week in Mexico City, and Patrick Reed is the one who was able to take advantage. He earned 550 points with his win and climbed all the way from 33rd to 5th in the FedEx Cup standings.

He was able to more than double his points, as he now sits at 1,024 points, closing the gap on current leader Justin Thomas down to 379 points.

Thomas has been in the lead for quite a while now thanks to his two wins, where he sits with a total of 1,403. It looked for a while like he was going to be able to add quite a bit more after starting off with rounds of 67-66-65, but a finishing 73 saw him earn only 96 points for his T-6th place finish.

Hideki Matsuyama continues his strong play, as he is still the only player in the top 10 without a win. He tied with Justin Thomas this week, adding 96 points as well, falling into 8th place in the FedEx Cup race.

Even though he has only participated in five events this year, Rory McIlroy continues to show why he is one of the best in the world. His finishes are ridiculous this year. T-3rd, 1st, T-3rd, T-5th, 5th. If you’ve been picking him for top finishes, your wallet is likely very happy with you. 115 points from the WGC-Mexico jumped him up to second place in the FedEx Cup standings, and he is now 320 points behind Thomas.

Jon Rahm made a nice jump in the standings thanks to his success last week, as his 170 point earnings moved him up from 30th to 18th. DeChambeau is the clear winner though, if only in the standings, as he moved from 69th to 24th thanks to the 300 points he earned.

It’s a bit hard to fall far in the standings, as no one is ever able to take your points away. It still managed to happen to Marc Leishman, as he fell from 8th to 13th, finding himself passed by Patrick Reed, Kevin Na, Cameron Smith, Xander Schauffele, and Sungjae Im.

There were a few more decent jumps to take note of. Paul Casey moved from 111th to 82nd, and Tyrrell Hatton moved from 121st to 73rd. It may not seem like much, but you need to remember that the top 70 moves on from the first playoff round. Positioning around that spot matters all throughout the year, and it is an important spot in the FedEx Cup standings to pay attention to.

There was another big jump, thanks in part to the Puerto Rico Open, which was a secondary event on the PGA Tour this week. Viktor Hovland earned his first career win there and got 300 FedEx Cup points along with that honor. He moved from 142nd to 39th. It can be a bit hard to tell looking at the rankings to see that he moved that far, as the events were put in separately. You can tell the Puerto Rico events were input first, as it currently shows that Hovland fell from 37th to 39th, despite the win.

Entrants into tournaments are going to be a bit varied over the next month and a half, as players are either looking to avoid burnout leading up to The Masters or are trying to win and secure entry into the hallowed event. As February wraps up, here are the current top ten, as well as the upcoming tournaments and their points allocations.

  1. Justin Thomas – 1,403
