Higgs played collegiately at Southern Methodist University (SMU), leaving in 2014. He went to the PGA Tour qualifying school, where he finished in a tie for 14th place. For the 2015 season, that placed Higgs on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica, where he made six of 12 cuts to finish 98th on that tour’s Order of Merit.

In 2016, Higgs had conditional status on the Korn Ferry Tour, where he made one of two cuts. He also missed two cuts on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica and the Mackenzie Tour.

Higgs returned to the Q-School in 2017 and this time around, he earned a tie for second place. He returned to the PGA Tour Latinoamerica, where he had a strong finish, including four consecutive top-four finishes.

The hot finish led Higgs back to the Korn Ferry Tour, where he continued his hot play. He had five top 10 finishes during the season, including a win, a second place and a third place finish. His success allowed him to finish fifth in the Korn Ferry Tour standings, a position that earned him a spot on the PGA Tour.

Higgs has wasted no time in taking advantage of his chance on the premier tour in golf. He has made 15 starts so far this season and has made 11 cuts already. And it’s not just that he’s making cuts. Higgs is also making noise.

In just his sixth start on tour, Higgs had a lead after 54 holes at the Bermuda Championship. He ultimately finished second to Brendan Todd, but Higgs made the point that he was ready to compete with the big boys.

Higgs earned another top 10 when he finished in a tie for ninth at the Farmers Insurance Open in January. In February, he finished in a tie for 18th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Still just 24 years old, Higgs is riding a hot streak that has him currently sitting in 42nd place in the FedEx Cup Standings. Once the PGA Tour season begins, Higgs will have nothing to lose and should continue to play strong golf through the remainder of the campaign.
