Byeong Hun An is in his fourth year on the PGA Tour and he has established himself as a true grinder. An has yet to earn a victory on tour, but has established himself as a consistent player and someone who makes a lot of cuts.
An joined the tour full time in 2017, making 17 cuts in 22 starts. He had three top 10 finishes including a tie for fifth place at the AT&T Byron Nelson, where he carded four straight rounds in the 60s. He would make the FedEx Cup playoffs, finishing 102nd.

In 2018, An made a slow and steady advance, earning a pair of second place finishes on the tour. He tied for second at the Memorial, losing in a playoff to eventual winner Bryson DeChambeau. He then tied for second at the RBC Canadian Open, which earned him another spot in the playoffs. This time, An was able to advance further, ultimately finishing 42nd in the FedEx Cup standings.
An played in 22 events in 2019 and made the cut 19 times. He had three top 10s, including a third place showing at the Wyndham Championship. Again, he made the playoffs, this time finishing 53rd.
An has already made 13 starts during the 2020 season, with five top 10s so far. Only Rory McIlroy has more top 10s during the 2020 campaign.
An’s best finish this season is a third place at the Sanderson Farms Championship in September. He also tied for fourth in the Honda Classic in March. He’s currently 23rd in the FedEx Cup standings and is looking for his first appearance in the Tour Championship.
An has earned more than $8 million on tour and is making a nice career for himself. But if he wants to take the next step, he needs to earn his first win. Once he does that, perhaps he can join the game’s elite players. But until then, he’s making a very nice living as a grinder.
