Kevin Na will have the benefit of seeing a pair of courses where he has played well as the PGA Tour resumes. Can he take advantage?

Kevin Na finds himself in unfamiliar territory right now. Having never placed higher than 24th in the FedEx Cup standings, Na is currently 11th as the PGA Tour gets ready to resume next month.

That’s good news for Na, but perhaps even better news awaits him as the tour kicks back into gear in June. The first two tournaments out of the gate are ones where Na has had good success in the past.

The Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial is a place where Na has seen success, especially the last two seasons. Na is the defending champion, was fourth in 2018 and was 10th in 2015. Colonial is apparently a course that fits Na’s eye, and it will be a chance for him to get a jump start on his competition as the FedEx Cup race heats up.

The RBC Heritage has also been a positive stop for Na. He was 10th there last year and was fourth in 2016. Harbour Town is a stop that many players usually skip because its regular spot on the schedule is the week after the Masters. It will be interesting to see what the top players elect to do about the event this season.

If Na plays very well at these two events, he could find himself in the top five, or so, in the FedEx Cup standings. It would be interesting to see how that type of pressure would affect him moving forward as the race heads into the fall.

The more likely scenario is that Na is not in contention as the race heats up, but with his track record at these two events, it’s certainly plausible that he could be there. Not many players will have a better track record at Colonial and Harbour Town than Na. Now, he just needs to take advantage of his opportunity.
