Luke List is hoping to keep a streak alive on the PGA Tour

As we continue our look at PGA Tour players on the bubble, we turn to Luke List, who is currently in 124th position. The Vanderbilt University graduate has made the playoffs in each of the last four seasons, but he finds himself in a tough position as the tour prepares to resume play in a couple of weeks.

List first made noise on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2012, when he recorded a win and a pair of second-place finishes. He finished fourth on the KFT money list and earned his first trip to the PGA Tour for the following season.

During his rookie season on tour, List struggled to find his footing. He made just nine cuts in 24 starts. He tied for 16th at the Wells Fargo Championship and tied for 21st at the RBC Canadian Open. At the end of the season, he was 163rd in the FedEx Cup standings and was forced to go back to the KFT.

In 2014, List struggled on the KFT, where he failed to record a top 10 finish in 17 starts. So it was back to the KFT in 2015, where List fared much better, finishing 44th in the priority order and earning his way back to the big tour.

This time around, List took better advantage of his opportunity

He recorded a pair of top 10s in 2016, one at the Career Builder Challenge (T6) and at the Honda Classic (T10). He would make the FedEx Cup playoffs for the first time in his career, finishing 122nd.

List took another step forward in 2017, recording his first two career top five finishes. He tied for second at the Sanderson Farms Championship and tied for third at the Shell Houston Open. He made the playoffs again and advanced, eventually finishing in 50th place.

The 2018 season for List looked very much like the 2017 campaign. He had a second-place finish at the Honda Classic, losing to Justin Thomas in a playoff. He added a third-place showing at the RBC Heritage and ultimately finished 45th in the FedEx Cup standings.

Last season, List slipped a bit, although he was sixth in the PGA Championship. He finished 92nd in the FedEx Cup standings after making 11 cuts in 22 starts.

In the 2020 season, List has made seven cuts in 13 starts. He has recorded top 25 finishes at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open (T13) and at the Waste Management Phoenix Open (T25).

List is currently two points from being out of the playoffs altogether. He needs to put together some solid finishes during this summer’s condensed PGA Tour schedule if he is to make his fifth straight appearance in the playoffs.
