Since his arrival on the PGA Tour, Matt Kuchar has had a lot of success at the RBC Heritage. Can he contend again at Harbour Town?

Matt Kuchar loves playing in the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links. Ever since his arrival on the PGA Tour, this has been a spot where Kuchar has played almost every year and he has had a great deal of success at the event.

Just how much has Kuchar exceled at Harbour Town? He has played in the event in 16 of his 19 years on the tour. In those 16 starts, he has missed the cut just once, in 2003, which was his first appearance in the event.

Kuchar has logged six top 10s at the RBC Heritage, including a win there in 2014. He also has finished inside the top 25 on 10 occasions.

He has also had a ton of recent success on the track

He was runner-up to C.T. Pan last year. He was 23rd in 2018 and 11th in 2017. He was ninth in 2016 and fifth in 2015, as he attempted to defend his title from the previous year.

Kuchar is currently ranked 18th in the Official World Golf Rankings entering this week’s event. His 2020 season has had a measure of success, though nothing overwhelming.

He has made eight starts so far this season with five top 25 showings, including a runner-up finish at the Genesis Invitational in February. He missed the cut last week in the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth.

Kuchar tied for 14th at the Mayakoba Golf Classic in November and at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January. He tied for 16th at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February and tied for 22nd in the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship in February.

With his up and down season, it’s hard to predict what Kuchar will do this week in the RBC Heritage. However, his previous showings at Harbour Town would figure to have him in contention.

The one thing that Kuchar will face this week in the RBC Heritage that he has not faced in the past is that the top five players in the world will all be in the field this week. Generally, this is an event that many of those players skip, because it’s normal spot on the schedule is right after the Masters. But this week is different, and all of those studs will be in this week’s field.

Look for Kuchar to contend once again at Harbour Town. He probably won’t win, but his track record suggests that he will at least be in the mix.
