PGA Tour: will Bryson DeChambeau win at RBC Heritage?
By Tim Letcher
Bryson DeChambeau made his PGA Tour debut at the RBC Heritage in 2016. He was fourth that year and also was close in 2018. Can he win this year?
As the PGA Tour resumed last week, fans got their latest look at an even more bulked up Bryson DeChambeau. And the bulk seems to agree with him. Perhaps that will be the added dimension that DeChambeau needs to get a win at the RBC Heritage.
DeChambeau was on his game last week as he came up one shot short of getting into a playoff at the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club. His 14-under par total left him one shot shy of eventual winner Daniel Berger and runner-up Collin Morikawa.

Now, DeChambeau returns to the state of South Carolina and, specifically, Harbour Town Golf Links, a place he has already shown that he likes quite well. In four appearances in the RBC Heritage, DeChambeau has a notched two top-five finishes.
The first of those came in his professional debut in 2016. That week, DeChambeau was 5-under par and finished in a tie for fourth place, four shots behind eventual winner Branden Grace.
In 2018, the SMU graduate was in contention again at Harbour Town
He shot a 7-under par 64 in the second round and held the 36-hole lead. However, DeChambeau’s third round was one to forget. He shot a 4-over par 75 to fall out of the lead, but not totally out of contention. He rebounded with a 5-under par 66 on Sunday and was able to tie for third.
This season did not get off to a great start for DeChambeau. In his first start, he missed the cut at the Military Tribute at the Greenbrier.
Since then, DeChambeau has played very well. He tied for 13th at the Safeway Open, followed by a tie for fourth at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. After nearly two months off, DeChambeau tied for 52nd at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Since then, he has not finished out of the top five in any of his four starts. He tied for fifth at the Genesis Invitational and was runner-up at the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship, both in February.
In March, he finished in solo fourth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. And that was his last start before the coronavirus pandemic canceled tour events for three months.
As the tour returned last week, DeChambeau stayed hot with his tie for third at Colonial. He hopes to carry that momentum into Harbour Town this week.
Competing against the world’s top five players last week, DeChambeau beat them all. He will face the same hurdle this week but will be up to the challenge. Look for DeChambeau to seriously contend at the RBC Heritage this week.
