2020 Travelers Championship: Staff Picks at TPC River Highlands
The PGA Tour heads to TPC at River Highlands to play the Travelers Championship. Here are the staff picks to win the event from Pro Golf Now.
We got back on the right track last week at the RBC Heritage, and hopefully, you took advice from our picks winner, Richie Randolph. He took Webb Simpson and will look to go with back-to-back winners this week at the Travelers Championship.
It remains to be seen if everyone that is currently set to play the tournament will be able to make it through the weekend, and not for the normal reason of making the cut. We say withdrawals last week due to COVID, and we have already seen one this week. Brooks Koepka withdrew after his caddy tested positive for the virus.
What we are focused on, for this article at least, is looking into who the staff here at Pro Golf Now thinks are going to win the event. So let’s get to it. Here are the picks from our group to win the Travelers Championship.
Bubba Watson
Bill Felber – After taking Webb Simpson off the proverbial Christmas List, he went and won last week. I’m going with Bubba Watson. Horses for Courses.
Kathy Bissell
Dustin Johnson
Kasey Kuhrts – It’s hard to believe Dustin’s last win on the PGA Tour was 486 days ago. At some point soon, that is going to change. Dustin strikes the ball as well as anyone and is currently 7th on Tour in strokes gained off the tee. I think he will have a solid chance this week at the Travelers!
Daniel Berger
Richie Randolph – He was a runner-up in 2017 at this event as Jordan Spieth famously holed out from the bunker to win. Berger followed up his win in Texas with a T3 at the RBC Heritage, and he will pull out his 2nd win this week!
Justin Rose
Chris O’Day – A T-3 and a T-14 over the last two weeks show that he is in the groove. That’s why I’m taking him to win this week at the Travelers.
Justin Thomas
Tim Letcher – He has had one bad round each of the past two weeks that has taken him out of contention. This week at the Travelers Championship, he avoids any bad rounds and claims the title.
Mike Randleman – An excerpt from this week’s power rankings…
“Thomas is the early frontrunner for PGA Tour Player of the Year. He’s already twice a winner at the CJ Cup and Tournament of Champions and has six more top-10s. That includes a T-10 at Colonial a couple weeks ago… The 27-year-old ranks fifth on Tour in strokes gained approach (1.069) and is also fifth in total SG (1.996). He’s tops in birdies per round at 4.81.”
Bryson DeChambeau
West Valentine – He’s been lurking around and I think he’s getting dialed in. This course will allow him to unleash the driver a little more. It could be his week.
Hans Geevers
Best of luck to everyone playing this week, and especially to those that we picked here at Pro Golf Now.
