PGA Tour: Bryson DeChambeau wins Rocket Mortgage Classic
By Tim Letcher
Red-hot Bryson DeChambeau earned his first PGA Tour win of the season on Sunday, claiming the title at the Rocket Mortgage Classic
Bryson DeChambeau has been as hot as anyone since the PGA Tour resumed about a month ago. And on Sunday, he added a victory at the Rocket Mortgage Classic to his already impressive 2020 resume.
DeChambeau was seen as one of the favorites this week in a field that was not as brutal as the past three weeks. And the 26-year-old took full advantage of his opportunity.

It was not a sure thing, however, with 18 holes to play. DeChambeau trailed Matthew Wolff by three shots heading into Sunday’s final round. But by the time the front nine was finished, DeChambeau had not only caught Wolff, he had actually taken a three-shot lead of his own.
DeChambeau got things going early and immediately took control on Sunday
He birdied the first hole, parred the second, then birdied the third and fourth holes to move to 3-under par very quickly.
He would par the fifth and sixth holes before another birdie, this one on the seventh hole. Pars on eight and nine gave DeChambeau a front-nine 32.
DeChambeau birdied the 10th hole to move to 5-under par on his round. He then parred the 11th, 12th and 13th holes as he put his game in cruise control with a three-shot lead over the field.
From there, he would suffer his only blemish on the back nine, when a pitch out from the rough got away from him and rolled into the hazard on the 14th hole. After taking a drop, DeChambeau would bogey the hole.
After a par on the 15th hole, DeChambeau closed very strongly, with birdies on 16, 17 and 18. He would go on to win by three shots over Wolff.
For DeChambeau, this is his fourth straight top 10 finish and his eighth top 10 in 11 starts this season. The win was his first this season but marked the sixth career PGA Tour win for the SMU graduate.
DeChambeau now takes the crown as hottest player on the PGA Tour, largely due to his consistency since the tour restart. While Webb Simpson still holds the lead in the FedEx Cup standings, DeChambeau is hot on his trail.
The scary thing for those on tour is that DeChambeau shows no signs of letting up. As well as he is playing, he is ready to challenge the best players in the world. And the way it’s going for him, DeChambeau might be ready to overtake them.
