Patrick Reed has made all four career cuts at Muirfield Village. He’d like to have contended more often, as the only time he got in the mix was finishing T-8th and three shots back in 2016 (68-71-69-68). Still, top-30 finishes in 2015 and 2018 are nothing to sneeze at while playing against the strong fields the Memorial Tournament annually attracts.

Reed is one of the few players who played in all four post-COVID-19 tournaments and is also here at the Workday Charity Open this week. Results lately have been a mixed bag so far for the Texan. He contended in the first event back at the Charles Schwab Challenge and finished T-7th. He was also T-24th at the Travelers Championship and missed two cuts.

The 29-year-old was having himself a solid 2019-2020 PGA Tour season prior to the hiatus. He won at the WGC-Mexico Championship, was T-2nd at the Tournament of Champions and was in the top 10 at the Farmers Insurance Open. His spot on the Ryder Cup was a lock, so you know he’s probably peeved at having to wait until 2021 to don the red, white and blue in competition.

Reed has putted well on bentgrass greens like we’ll see this week, most notably in his win at the 2018 Masters.

The flat stick has been kind to him regardless of surface. He’s fourth on Tour in strokes gained putting (.861). Plus, he’s 30th in SG around the green (.298), which has helped a good, but not elite, ball striking campaign.
