The PGA Tour sticks around Muirfield village, as this week they will be playing the Memorial Tournament.

Enough has been said about the PGA Tour playing the same site, Muirfield Village, back-to-back for the first time in 40+ years. It’s a bit different this time, being done for safety and health reasons, first with the Workday followed by the Memorial.

That isn’t what we are here to talk about though. We are looking at the staff picks from our contributors here, checking in with them to see who they think is going to win the upcoming event.

We almost kept our win streak going, as we did have a pick for some of the young guns on tour, one for Wolff (MC) and Hovland (3rd). The wrong youngsters were picked though, as it turned out to be Morikawa’s tournament, as he took down Justin Thomas in a playoff.

Still, a third-place pick isn’t that bad. Let’s see if we can find another winner.

Here are the staff picks to win for the Memorial at Muirfield.

Tony Finau

Kasey Kuhrts – Don’t really have a solid reason in doing so, just going for it!

Patrick Cantlay

Cam Cobey – Cantlay finished T7 last week, and he won the Memorial in 2019. He has what it takes to win this week and will fly under the radar like he usually does to some sneaky good play.

Dustin Johnson

Tim Letcher – He won at the Travelers and appears to have his game in good order. He also has six top 20s at the Memorial, where he finished in a tie for eighth last year. This time around, DJ gets it done.

Justin Thomas

Chris O’Day – He was oh so close last week. Blew the lead, and lost in a playoff. Honestly, if you told someone that, coming down to the end, it would be Morikawa and Thomas. One of them would have a three-shot lead, lose it, and lose a playoff… you would’ve picked it the other way around and chosen Thomas to make the comeback. I would imagine he’s as angry and focused as any non-Tiger golfer can get.

Bill Felber – You don’t mess with the SEC and live to tell about it. I’m doing Roll Tide this week.

Collin Morikawa

West Valentine – Can I pick Morikawa? Is that legal? I’m being told, yes. Yes, I can pick Morikawa.

Why not. He’s been on fire this season. He just stared down a US Open champ and won in a playoff on the same course. Conditions will be tougher this week – longer rough and faster greens. Both of those favor the cerebral, in-control play Morikawa demonstrated. Two in a row!

Bryson DeChambeau

Mike Randleman – In an excerpt from the weekly power rankings…

“I’m guessing he only used his first week off post-quarantine to refuel and reenergize. Perhaps add on five or 10 more pounds for good measure… I’d tell him just keep doing what you’re doing. He was far and away the best player the four weeks he teed it up, collecting finishes of T-3rd, T-8th, T-6th and 1st.”

Best of luck to all of those this week at the Memorial Tournament!
