We are finally here as it is time for the first major of 2020; the PGA Championship.

Golf has been a bit weird this year. Here we are heading into August, and we are approaching the first major of the season. We haven’t seen a major since last July, having gone an entire calendar year without one. The PGA Championship is here to break that streak.

The good news is that we will be seeing a lot of important golf over the next 12 months or so. Majors upon majors. That also means that we have a lot of important picks to make for who we think is going to win.

Let’s get to it. Here is who the staff at Pro Golf Now thinks is going to win the 2020 PGA Championship.

More from Pro Golf Now

Xander Schauffele

Cam Cobey – He’s played 6 tournaments since the Players, and he has 5 top 20 finishes. He also typically plays pretty well in majors, including a T2 at the Masters and a T2 at the US Open. He’s also a Cali guy, so I love him this week.

Kasey Kuhrts – Xander finished top five in two of the four majors last season, although the PGA Championship wasn’t one of them. However, I think he sets up well this week. He averages 305 yards off the tee, which will be important on this long course, but he has to stay in the fairway. Overall, I just think Xander is a big-time player, and I think he gets his first major championship this weekend in San Fran.

Tim Letcher – The PGA Championship has had seven first-time major winners in the last 11 years, and Schauffele will become the next one this week. He’s been close in majors before but this week, he gets over the hump to win the first of what will be multiple majors in his career.

Collin Morikawa

Bill Felber – The two best guys in that category are Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa. of course you can’t discount Brooks Koepka, especially since he played well this past week. I see it coming down to those three. But nobody’s won three straight PGAs in nearly a century — that hurts Koepka — and it’s really hard to win twice in a row on tour, which hurts Thomas. So I’ll ride with Morikawa to pick up a major.

Dustin Johnson

Hans Geevers – The American has won 21 events on the PGA Tour, including the 2016 U.S. Open. There is no doubt in my mind that he can win another major title this week.

Rory McIlroy

Kathy Bissell

Brooks Koepka

West Valentine – It’s gotta be Brooks Kopeka, right? He looks like he feels so disrespected right now. He had a great week at St. Jude’s and looks like he’s found something with the putter. I also think Xander Schauffele could be a dark horse pick. But my money would be on Brooks to win or be Top 3.

Richie Randolph – Give me Brooks. I could rattle off stats but let’s be honest – the man is a killer and is rounding into form. He’ll go back-to-back-to-back!

Patrick Cantlay

Chris O’Day – I really want to pick Tiger Woods. I want to pick him to win every major. I want him to win every major. Alas, this isn’t the mid-2000s. I’m going with Cantlay instead. He finished T-3rd last year. Knowing that you can perform under pressure is a step that holds many players back. With Cantlay being in contention before, I like him to win the 2020 PGA Championship.

Justin Thomas

Mike Randleman – In an excerpt from this week’s power rankings

“Harding Park calls for shot-shaping and curving the ball, which JT can do. He’s got all the shots to take on this course for the first time… Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay was on the bag last week and will stay there for the PGA Championship. JT’s regular caddie, Jimmy Johnson, has been out since the third round of memorial due to spells of dizziness. Mackay will have knowledge of TPC Harding Park from caddying with Phil at WGCs and the Presidents Cup.”

dark. Next. Jim Nantz: “The greatest stretch of golf in the history of the game.”

Best of luck to everyone in this week’s PGA Championship!
