The first 2020 PGA Tour major may be in the books, but there is plenty on the line this week at the Wyndham Championship. Here are the staff picks to win.

Anyone who is a fan of golf rejoiced at the site of a major tournament on TV last week. We got to watch a good, close tournament, with an exciting finish. The Wyndham Championship is obviously not on the same level as the PGA Championship, but there is still a lot on the line.

It has snuck up on us, but this is the last event of the regular season.

Yeah, you read that right. Honestly, it surprised me. You get used to 9 months of golf before getting to the playoffs. With the shutdown and time off, it just doesn’t seem like it should be time for the playoffs yet.

Which means that there are a lot of top-level talents taking this week off. They are preparing for the first round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Check that… not top-level talents, but guys who are ranked high in the standings. There are plenty of low ranked players who will be there that have great resumes.

Let’s see if any of them were picked by the crew here at Pro Golf Now. One guy stood out as the favorite, and for good reason.

Here are the staff picks to win the Wyndham Championship.

Webb Simpson

Mike Randleman – In an excerpt from the weekly power rankings

“Sedgefield is a special place for the Charlotte native not only for being a home game but for the success he’s forged here. The Wake Forest grad owns a staggering eight top-11 finishes and 10 made cuts in 11 starts. The only MC was in his first start in 2008. It’s hard to believe he’s only won once.”

Richie Randolph

Kathy Bissell

Tim Letcher – He has been one of the best players on tour all season and that will carry over to this week. Simpson wins for the third time this season.

West Valentine – This is going to be a popular pick with a weaker field this week. Webb Simpson. I love his game. If the putter is working, he might be as close to a lock as there is. He’s been so steady most of the year. This feels like a great chance to pick off another Tour win for Simpson.

Doc Redman

Cam Cobey – He’s been a name mentioned in recent tournaments and I think he can get one here.

Patrick Reed

Kasey Kuhrts

Harris English

Hans Geevers

Ryan McNeil Lamswood – He has been playing really well since the restart (minus one MC), he is 8th in strokes gained total on the season and is coming off a really solid week at the PGA with a Sunday 66 to finish T19. He also has plenty of experience on the course having played it multiple years before with a T11 in 2018.

Si Woo Kim

Bill Felber – The  Wyndham is usually won by somebody who meets two conditions: 1. They need the FedEx Cup points. 2. They’ve been playing pretty well lately. There is such a player in the field this week. It’s Si Woo Kim. I’ll take him.

Paul Casey

Chris O’Day – Casey has quietly been good for so long. Then, amidst the jumble of names that were at the top of the leaderboard, one man was quietly there. Paul Casey. He finished in a T-2nd, and not only that, he dominated his playing partner, some guy by the name of Brooks Koepka. IN this week’s weak field, I love Paul Casey to be one of the guys to make a run for the win at the Wyndham Championship.

Next. Does Rory McIlroy Need the Tiger Woods’ Stinger Shot?. dark

That’ll do it for this week’s staff picks for the Wyndham Championship. Best of luck to everyone out there. Besides Sergio Garcia.
