Find out who the winners and losers were at this week’s Wyndham Championship, including winner Jim Herman, runner-up Billy Horschel and more.

Each week on the PGA Tour, there are winners and losers in each tournament. This week, and continuing throughout the season, we will look at those who achieved and those who underachieved at each event. Here’s a look at the winners and losers from the Wyndham Championship.

Winners

Jim Herman – The only way he could make the playoffs this week was to win. And that he did. Herman claimed his third PGA Tour title and, in the process, jumped from 192nd to 54th in the FedEx Cup standings.

Zach Johnson – The two-time major winner rallied to make the FedEx Cup playoffs with a tie for seventh at the Wyndham, jumping from 129th and outside of the playoffs to 104th and into the playoffs. ZJ closed with a 61-65 weekend to make it happen.

Shane Lowry – The defending Champion Golfer of the Year also snuck his way into the playoffs with three solid rounds this week at the Wyndham. The entered the week 131st in the FedEx Cup standings, but after shooting 68-63-70-67, he did just enough to qualify for the postseason.

Billy Horschel – While he missed a putt on the 72nd hole to force a playoff, it was still a big weekend for Horschel. The former Florida Gator was 20-under par and jumped 25 points in the FedEx Cup standings, from 50th to 25th.

Doc Redman – Quietly, Redman shot 67-64-63-68 to finish in a tie for third place this week. He moved from 84th to 60th in the FedEx Cup standings and continues to have an outstanding season on tour.

Losers

Charl Schwartzel – The former Masters champion controlled his own postseason destiny this week. Schwartzel entered the Wyndham in 125th place in the FedEx Cup standings, thus holding the last playoff spot. But he missed the cut in Greensoboro and, in the process, fell out of the playoffs.

Justin Rose – Another less than normal finish for Rose, who is not having a very good season on the PGA Tour. Rose missed the cut at the Wyndham, falling to 109th in the FedEx Cup standings. Yes, he will make the playoffs, but the funk Rose is in continues. He has now missed the cut in seven of the 12 events on the PGA Tour this season. Not great for the world’s 17th-ranked player.

Russell Knox – Another player who came into the week inside the playoffs and left it on the outside looking in. Knox was done in by rounds of 73 on Thursday and 72 on Saturday. The Scotland native will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2013.

Fabian Gomez – Another player who was inside the playoff cut line at the beginning of the week, only to fall out of the postseason by missing the cut at the Wyndham. Gomez came in at 122nd in the FedEx Cup standings but after shooting 74-67, he didn’t get to play the weekend and finished in 128th, outside of the playoff mix.

Si Woo Kim – Entered Sunday’s round with a two-shot lead, only to see absolutely nothing good happen in his final round. He shot even par on Sunday as he came up short of winning for the third time on the PGA Tour. It was one that Kim gave away in the end because shooting a 66 would have given him the title.
