Fantasy golf fans can rejoice as the FedEx Cup playoffs start this week with the 2020 Northern Trust! Let’s take a look at this event from a DFS perspective.

Before I discuss my fantasy golf selections let’s take a quick look at the golf course and the key player statistics that I think are the most vital to success this week.

The 2020 Northern Trust will be played at TPC Boston. The golf course is a par 71 that measures 7,342 yards. This track features three par five holes and pure bent grass greens. TPC Boston is also an original Arnold Palmer design.

It should be noted that the PGA Tour has hosted events at TPC Boston in the past. The last PGA Tour event held at this golf course was the 2018 Dell Technologies Championship.

The key player statistics that I will be focusing on this week are: par five birdie or better percentage, strokes gained approach, strokes gained tee to green, GIR (greens in regulation), and strokes gained putting.

Here are my Draftkings player selections for the 2020 Northern Trust!

Bryson DeChambeau $11,100

The 26 year old American arrives at this week’s start of the FedEx Cup playoffs in outstanding form. Let me be more specific. DeChambeau has played 14 tournaments on the PGA Tour this season. In those 14 events played, Bryson has an impressive nine top ten finishes, including a win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic last month.

Bryson also checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. DeChambeau currently ranks fourth in par five birdie or better percentage (55.26%), eighth in strokes gained tee to green (1.244), and fifth in strokes gained putting (.838) on the PGA Tour.

It should also be noted that Bryson won the 2018 Dell Technologies Championship which was also played at TPC Boston.

Patrick Reed $9,000

The 2018 Masters champion has nine top 17 finishes on the PGA Tour this season, including a win at the WGC-Mexico Championship in February.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2020 Northern Trust field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Reed ranks 10th in strokes gained tee to green and fourth in bogey avoidance.

Doc Redman $7,400

Redman has five top 29 finishes in his last seven events played this season, including a third place result at the Wyndham Championship last week.

Russell Henley $7,300

The 31 year old American has three top ten finishes this season, including a seventh place result at the Workday Charity Open in July.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2020 Northern Trust field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Henley ranks sixth in greens in regulation, fourth in strokes gained approach, and eighth in strokes gained tee to green.

Byeong Hun An $7,300

He arrives at this week’s event on the heels of two consecutive top 22 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a 12th place result at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Championship three weeks ago.
