If things fall correctly at the BMW Championship, the games elite youth movement will have a strong showing at the Tour Championship.

There are so many big names in golf right now, it’s a little crazy to think about. Almost all of them have made it to the BMW Championship, sans Fowler, Fleetwood, Koepka, and Rose.

You would think those four not being there would put a damper on the level of talent. It just isn’t the case though, as you may not even notice they are missing. Take a look at some of the players that will be there… and that’s before we even get to the point of today’s article.

Johnson, Simpson, Beefy Bryson, Xander, Rory, Hideki, Na, Kisner, Finau, Cantlay, Scott, Woodland, Day, Kuchar, TIGER, Bubba, and Shrek. Good night there is some high-level talent there.

They’re old news though. I want to praise the youth on tour heading into the BMW Championship.

More from Pro Golf Now

I want to talk about the babies on Tour. For the sake of today’s argument, we are going to make the cutoff at… 24 years old. The guys who are early to mid-20s. Ones who, if like your normal college student, would either be in school, finishing up, or looking around at their new job wondering what they got themselves into.

In the case of these incredible athletes (yes, golfers are in fact athletes), they aren’t just young, but they are incredibly talented. Each of them has set records, and either won an event or shot 59. Hey, I had to get him in there somehow.

Look at the insane youth and talent of these golfers. All of their rankings come from the FedEx Cup Standings.

Collin Morikawa – 5th place – 23 years old

Scottie Scheffler – 14th place- 24 years old

Sung-jae Im – 8th place- 22 years old

Viktor Hovland – 24th place- 22 years old

Joaquin Niemann – 31st place- 21 years old

Matthew Wolff – 33rd place – 21 years old

Sorry Jon Rahm (9th) and Cameron Champ (25th), you are both 25, which means you’re old… in this case at least.

If Matthew Wolff and Joaquin Niemann can put together a decent showing at the BMW Championship, they are going to join the top four that I listed in making a trip to the Tour Championship for the finale of the FedEx Cup playoffs.

I can only imagine that kids now are potentially looking to these guys like all of them looked to Tiger Woods when he was their age. Okay, not quite, because the first time Tiger won a major, Morikawa was only a few months old, and Scottie Scheffler was one. The other guys weren’t even around yet.

What I mean to say is that we have a solid foundation set up to help usher in the next waves of golfers to the sport. These guys are all so young, and already fantastic players. As with Rory and DJ helping to usher in a new class, this group looks set to do the same thing.

Next. Add Distance and Years to Your Game. dark

Imagine that. Six players, all under the age of 25, showing up as legitimate contenders to win it all and be crowned champion. The newest wave of golfers are here, and they aren’t going anywhere.
