Fantasy Golf: 2020 Tour Championship Preview and Draftkings Picks
By Hans Geevers
This week, fantasy golf fans will be presented with the 2020 Tour Championship! Let’s take a look at the final event of the PGA Tour season from a Draftkings perspective!
Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections let’s take a look at the golf course and the key player key statistics I feel are the most vital to a golfer’s success this week.
The 2020 Tour Championship will be played at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. The event has been played on this track since 2005. East Lake Golf Club is a par 70 that measures 7,346 yards. This golf course can best be described as a classical and technical golf course that features tree-lined fairways. The course features Bermuda greens and rough. Additionally, this track only has two par-five holes.
The key statistics that I will be focusing on this week are: strokes gained tee to green, GIR (greens in regulation), scrambling, and strokes gained off the tee.

For those readers that are not aware, golfers will tee off Friday with a predetermined score based on current FedEx Cup rankings. The FedEx Cup leader (Dustin Johnson) will start at 10 under par. The scores than continue to lower until the 30th player in the field comes in at even par.
Here are my fantasy golf player selections for the 2020 Tour Championship!
Jon Rahm $12,700
The 25-year-old Spaniard has four top 13 finishes in his last five events on the PGA Tour, including two wins (2020 Memorial Tournament, 2020 BMW Championship). It has to be said that Rahm finished off last week’s win at the BMW Championship in impressive fashion with a third-round 66 and a final round 64!
In relation to this week’s current listed 2020 Tour Championship field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Rahm ranks second in strokes gained ball striking, second in strokes gained tee to green, and first in strokes gained off the tee.
Xander Schauffele $8,900
Xander arrives at this week’s final event of the season on the heels of seven consecutive top 25 finishes, including a sixth-place result at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational a month ago.
I also like the fact that Schauffele has played well in previous years at East Lake Golf Club. Xander finished second at the 2019 Tour Championship.
Tony Finau $8,200
Finau has three career top 15 finishes at the Tour Championship, including a seventh-place finish in last year’s event.
Finau has played 19 events on the PGA Tour this season. In those 19 events played, Finau has seven top-ten finishes, including a second-place result at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February.
Scottie Scheffler $7,900
The American has four consecutive top 20 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a fourth-place finish at the PGA Championship in August.
Kevin Kisner $6,800
The 36-year-old American has two top four finishes in his last three events on the PGA Tour, including a third-place result at the Wyndham Championship three weeks ago.
In relation to this week’s listed 2020 Tour Championship field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Kisner ranks fifth in strokes gained ball striking, fourth in strokes gained putting, and second in strokes gained approach.
Mackenzie Hughes $5,200
The Canadian arrives at the week’s event on the heels of two consecutive top 13 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a tenth place result at last week’s BMW Championship. I think Hughes presents outstanding fantasy golf value at a Draftkings price of only $5,200.
As always, good luck with your fantasy golf lineups!
