Fantasy Golf: Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship DFS Picks
By Hans Geevers
The Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship presents the fantasy golf community with a much weaker field than most events on the PGA Tour. Let’s take a look at this event from a Draftkings/DFS perspective!
This event is being held on a resort-style golf course. The course is a par 72 that measures 7,668 yards. Several of the holes border the ocean. However, the course offers very wide generous fairways and very little rough. This tournament should yield very low scores to the field this week, providing ample opportunity to score well for your fantasy golf selections.
While it is true that this course will likely not present a difficult challenge, it is still of high importance to differentiate the field based on key statistics when playing in DFS contests. Based on previous years’ results, the key statistics that I will be focusing on are the following: birdies or better percentage, strokes gained off the tee, greens in regulation, and driving distance.
Due to the fact that this is a coastal course, the weather has the potential to become a factor this week. Having stated that, I highly recommend that you take a look at the weather forecast the day prior to the event.

Here are my fantasy golf/Draftkings player selections!
Sam Burns $10,100
The 24-year-old American has six top 32 finishes in his last eight events on the PGA Tour, including a seventh-place result at the Safeway Open two weeks ago.
In relation to this week’s current listed field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Burns currently ranks third in proximity to the hole, fifth in strokes gained ball striking, sixth in driving distance, and 13th in GIR (greens in regulation).
I also like the fact that Burns has previously illustrated an ability to perform at a high level in this week’s event. Burns finished 12th at the 2019 Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship.
Emiliano Grillo $9,800
Grillo has two top-nine finishes in his last four events on the PGA Tour, including a third-place result at the 3M Open in July.
In relation to this week’s current listed field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Grillo ranks first in ball striking, first in strokes gained off the tee, fourth in strokes gained tee to green, and ninth in strokes gained approach.
Adam Schenk $8,500
Schenk has made the cut in his last seven events played on the PGA Tour. Additionally, in those seven events played, Schenk has five top 41 finishes, including a 12th place result at the Barracuda Championship last month.
It should also be mentioned that Schenk has played the Corales event in the last four years it has been played. (Schenk played the first two events when the Corales was a Korn Ferry Tour event.) In those four events played at the Corales, Schenk has three top 35 finishes, including a 12th place result at the 2017 Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship.
Seamus Power $7,500
Power has three top 27 finishes in his last five events on the PGA Tour, including a ninth-place result at the Barracuda Championship in August. Additionally, Power finished fifth at the 2018 Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship.
Kyoung-Hoon Lee $7,500
The 29-year-old Korean finished 29th at the Northern Trust last month. Lee also finished 26th at the 2019 Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship.
Michael Gligic $6,500
The Canadian has three top 26 finishes in his last four events on the PGA Tour, including a 14th place result at the Safeway Open two weeks ago.
As always, good luck with your fantasy golf lineups!
