2020 Sanderson Farms: Daily Fantasy Golf Plays and Fades
The PGA Tour 20-2021 season continues with the playing of the Sanderson Farms Championship. This article will examine Fantasy Golf plays and fades this week at the Country Club of Jackson.
When it comes to Fantasy golf, it can be just as important to look at strong plays and players to fade as it is to look at underdogs and the favorites. This week we see the Country Club of Jackson host the 2020 edition of the Sanderson Farms Championship. The event will be played out on a 7,400 yard Par 72 and will be the 7th time the club has hosted the event.
In 2008 the course was redesigned by architect John Faught and now includes elements similar to those you would find on Donald Ross designed courses.
Last year the event was won by Sebastian Munoz after the Colombian won in a playoff against Sungjae Im, both players posted a score of -18 after 72 holes of play. This is a high scoring event that on average has seen a winning score of 18 to 21 under.

I do not expect players to be to penalized should they miss fairways this week and will instead be focusing on players that have good wedge play specifically from the 75-125 yard range. Players will be hitting their approaches into magnificent champion Bermuda greens this week, and producing a hot putting performance will be essential in order to find yourself in contention at this event.
All in all, I anticipate a high scoring event this week and will be focusing on Golfers that excel in the following, Approaches from 75-125, Par 5 Scoring, Birdie or Better %, and Strokes Gained Putting.
Fantasy Golf Plays
Sungjae Im – 10,500
The 2019-20 season was full of ups and downs for Sungjae and after a late dip in form, it seems that Im has found something again in recent weeks. The 2019 PGA rookie of the year has two top 25’s in his last two starts including a 22nd at the US Open a couple of weeks ago. Im is one of the better putters on Bermuda greens with his win during the 2020 PGA season coming at The Honda Classic on Bermuda greens. The South Korean also gained on the greens at this very event in 2019 on his way to a second-place finish.
Sungjae ranks in the top twenty over his past 12 rounds in both Greens in Regulation and Birdies or Better gained. I’m rolling with Sungjae to continue his spell of great recent form and once again contend this week.
Sam Burns – 9,800
Like Sungjae before him Burns is another who’s recent form has looked sharp. The Louisiana native has two top 30 finishes in his last two starts including a 7th at the Safeway a few weeks ago. Sam has also not missed a cut in his previous three starts at the Country Club of Jackson, and he came close in 2019 producing a top 5 finish.
Burns is another with an excellent track record on Bermuda greens and he rates out as third best in the field over his past 50 rounds. The product out of LSU rates out inside the top 30 of all statistical categories I’m focusing on for this week, this includes Par 5 Scoring, BOB %, and Approaches from 75-125 yards.
It feels like it is only a matter of time before Burns picks up his first PGA win, and there is a good chance that victory comes this week.
Nate Lashley 7,000
It had been a struggle for Nate up until last week when he picked up a top 5 finish at the Corales Puntacana. Lashley is someone who has had success on Donald Ross style tracks including when he won the Rocket Mortgage Classic in 2019 at the Detroit Golf Club. Lashley also picked up a top 20 finish in this event last year.
There are some unknowns from a statistical perspective about Nate coming into this week and this is more of a play on him finding something with his game last week in the Dominican Republic. Lashley will only cost you 7,000 this week and at that price tag, I am willing to take a chance that his form is gearing into shape just in time.
Fantasy Golf Fades
Scottie Scheffler – 11,400
This will be a rather unpopular opinion this week as the 2020 PGA rookie of the year comes into this event looking like a perfect choice to win. I’ll admit that his recent form and even history at this event when he picked up a 16th place finish in 2019 and a 45th the year before makes this selection somewhat of a gamble.
The decision to fade Scheffler comes down to two factors, his price at 11,400 and where his game is at after coming back from COVID-19. Scottie unfortunately missed playing in the US Open after coming down with the virus just prior.
It is hard to know during his time off if he was able to continue working on his game, and whether or not he will be sharp from the get-go this week. If he is not it could potentially cost him.
Paying this much for a player that will in all probability be a popular selection this week and comes in with some unknowns is something that I will pass on this week. Instead, I will opt for the safety of a player like Sungjae who comes in at a similar price.
Corey Conners – 9,200
Conners comes into this week having missed two consecutive cuts, in addition, he failed to make the cut at this event last year as well. Corey is one of the best on tour when it comes to hitting greens in regulation, that is not the problem. The question is can he make enough putts?.
The Canadian rates out as one of the worst in the field in strokes gained putting, he is just 127th over his past 12 rounds. Even on Bermuda greens, it doesn’t get any better as he is 133rd over his past 50.
Will Conners make enough putts to be able to keep up with the high scoring this week? I’m not so sure. Recent form, questions around his ability to score enough this week, and a price tag of 9,200 all make Corey an easy fade for me this week.
Best of luck to everyone that is playing this week, and in your fantasy golf selections.
