Adam Scott is the latest PGA Tour pro to test positive for COVID, and has withdrawn from the Zozo Championship.

This makes it three top players in just as many weeks to test positive for COVID, with Adam Scott being the latest player to do so, causing him to have to withdraw from the Zozo Championship.

Adam Scott was one of the players who spent a lot of extra time at home over the shutdown and slow startup of the PGA Tour, choosing to stay home in Australia. When you are playing on the PGA Tour, regardless of how careful you are, there is still a higher than average chance of running into someone with the virus, resulting in a positive test.

It was actually just two months ago that Scott came back to the States, choosing to play his first event as the PGA Championship. With the Masters just a few weeks away, best wishes go out to Scott on a quick recovery (or a false-positive and that he doesn’t actually have it), so that he can get back to being healthy and be able to play in the Masters.

With his withdrawal from the Zozo Championship, he becomes the third high-ranking player in as many weeks to have to withdraw from a tournament due to COVID. Scott is currently 15th in the OWGR rankings. It kicked off three weeks ago with 17th ranked Tony Finau testing positive and is sandwiched by the top player in the world, Dustin Johnson, being afflicted as well. Dustin will actually not be playing this week either as he works on recovering.

With the players staying in Vegas for a stretch of golf being played, there was a hope that with less travel needed flying from event to event, that there would be less contact. At the same time, it becomes infinitely easier to get more comfortable when you are staying in the same location for an extra week. Unfortunately for Adam Scott, he came down with COVID, and looks to recover for the upcoming schedule.

"“While it’s difficult news to receive – as I really looked forward to playing this week – my focus is on recovery for the final stretch of the fall”"

As the PGA Tour gets closer and closer to Augusta and The Masters, the hope is that we don’t see any more players contract or test positive for COVID. The player’s health comes first, and we want everyone to be at the top of their game. Having a full-strength field at the Masters will make it that much better.
