Tiger Woods returns to defend the ZOZO Championship this week at Sherwood Country Club in California

Tiger makes his return to action this week as he looks to defend the ZOZO Championship on a course that he has had great success at over the years.  The PGA Tour will play the second edition of the ZOZO Championship this week at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks California after it was moved from Japan as part of the PGA’s reworked 2021 schedule.

Sherwood Country Club will host its first official PGA event this week after playing host to events on the Champions Tour in recent years and hosting Tiger’s Hero World Challenge event from 2000-2013.  A five-time winner on this course Tiger Wood’s will be joined by some of the world’s best this week for the ZOZO Championship.  The 78 man field includes eight of the world’s top ten ranked golfers and will be played out on a Par 72 that stretches out at just over 7000 yards.

Favorite Head to Head bets at the ZOZO Championship

Colin Morikawa -125 Over Hideki Matsuyama +105

I’m all in on the PGA Champion this week including selecting him as my favorite pick to win this week’s ZOZO Championship as I discussed in my favorite Outright bets for the week article. Colin rates out fifth in my stats model for the week and comes into this event having shown indications that his game is rounding into shape last week at The CJ Cup.

Local to the area, Morikawa should again enjoy playing in California and I’ll side with him this week over Matsuyama.

Matthew Wolff -106 Over Matthew Fitzpatrick -115

Matthew had a rough week last week at the CJ Cup but before that had produced two runner-up finishes including a loss in a playoff to Martin Laird at the Shriners Open the week before.  Wolff is a local to the area and this week’s event will be somewhat of a homecoming for him, he can perhaps be excused for last week’s performance in what was a potential look-ahead spot to this week’s event.

The impressive youngster rates out fourth in my model for the week and prior to last week had gained strokes from both tee to green and approach over his previous three starts on tour.  I’ll back Wolf in this spot hoping that last week’s performance was just a blip on the radar.

Russell Henley +105 Over Scottie Scheffler -125

Henley comes into this week’s ZOZO Championship in fine form having produced three top-ten finishes in his last five starts on tour, including a 3rd at last week’s CJ Cup in Las Vegas. Over that span, Russell has been striking his irons excellently gaining strokes from approach in his last six starts.  Henley has also had success on Jack Nicklaus designed courses in the past and rates out top ten in the field in strokes gained tee to green on similar courses.

Next. Tony Finau Being Sued for Nearly $16 million. dark

Henley is third in my model for the week and I’ll roll with him in this matchup against Scheffler who has really struggled since returning to play after testing positive for COVID-19 before the U.S. Open last month.

Good luck this week with all your bets at the ZOZO Championship.
