This week, the PGA Tour presents fantasy golf fans with the ZOZO Championship @ Sherwood! Let’s take a look at this event from a fantasy golf perspective.

Before I dive into my fantasy golf player selections let’s take a quick look at the golf course the field will play this week.

The ZOZO Championship will be played at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California. The golf course is a par 72 that measures 7,073 yards. The golf course is rather odd with regard to it’s overall layout. Why is the layout odd? Well, we can start with the fact that this golf course offers a whopping five par five holes!

This will be the first time that the ZOZO Championship has been played at Sherwood Country Club. This tournament was scheduled to occur in Japan. However, the event shifted to Sherwood Country Club due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

It should be noted that Sherwood Country Club was the host of the Hero World Challenge from 2000-2013. If you are interested in course history from that time period, 13 players in this week’s field do have some course history from that event.

Here are my fantasy golf/Draftkings player selections for the ZOZO Championship @ Sherwood.

Tyrrell Hatton $10,000

The 29 year old Englishman has quite simply been playing some outstanding golf this year. Let us not forget that this is a golfer that has won three golf tournaments in his last 14 starts (PGA and European Tour starts combined). That my friends is impressive.

Jason Kokrak $8,600

The American arrives at this week’s event on the heels of his first victory on the PGA Tour at last week’s CJ Cup @ Shadow Creek. After four rounds of tournament play at the CJ Cup, in relation to the field, Kokrak ranked first in GIR (greens in regulation-76.4%) and seventh in putts per GIR (1.600).

I generally don’t like backing a golfer that is coming off a win a week prior to an event. However, I am making an exception this week. I watched multiple interviews with Kokrak after his win last week and came away very impressed with his overall focus as a professional golfer. Having stated that, I like his chances to perform at a high level again this week.

Joaquin Niemann $8,400

The 21 year old Chilean has five consecutive top 27 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a third place result at the BMW Championship in August.

In relation to this week’s current listed ZOZO Championship field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Joaquin ranks eighth in GIR, sixth in strokes gained off the tee, and 13th in strokes gained ball striking.

Russell Henley $8,100

The American finished third at last week’s CJ Cup @ Shadow Creek. After four rounds of tournament play at the CJ Cup, in relation to the field, Henley ranked 11th in GIR (greens in regulation-70.8%) and fourth in putts per GIR (1.588).

Sungjae Im $8,000

Yes, I know that Im did not play up to his standards last week. However, after posting a poor first round score (78) in the first round of the CJ Cup @ Shadow Creek, Im bounced back with rounds of 69, 72, and 67. It has to be said that I absolutely love Im’s game. Having stated that, I am willing to take a chance on him this week at the reduced Draftkings price of $8,000.

Tom Hoge $6,400

The American has four top 29 finishes in his last seven events on the PGA Tour, including a 24th place result at the Shriners Hospitals For Children Open two weeks ago.

dark. Next. Tony Finau Being Sued for Nearly $16 million

As always, good luck with your fantasy golf lineups!
