For the first time, Tiger Woods is going to be playing at the PNC Championship. His playing partner will be none other than his 11-year-old son, Charlie.

The PNC Championship is an interesting event. You take 20 players who have won a major over the years, and they bring along a family member. For the first time, Tiger Woods is going to play in the event, and he will be playing with his son, Charlie.

It’s another step in the changing personality we have seen Tiger Woods exhibit since his return to golf. Pre-break, Tiger was laser-focused on one thing, and one thing only… winning. There was nothing that was going to get in his way and no one that was going to stop him.

If you knew back then that Tiger was going to be paired up with an 11-year-old, you would have worried that something bad was going to happen. Wanting to win at all costs can definitely be detrimental in a situation like that.

Now though, we are seeing a completely different Tiger Woods. Someone who has been playing in charity events, skins matches, and showcases at his new course with an earbud in the entire time so that he can talk to the people in the booth.

Don’t forget the 2019 Masters, in what could be argued as the most emotional moment in golf, He hugged his son while crying after being crowned Masters champion.

Now, he will be playing with him at the PNC Championship alongside 19 other major winners.

In case you haven’t seen, it doesn’t seem like Tiger will be dragging his son along, and that Charlie has quite the swing himself, looking quite similar as he swings next to his old man. It’s almost like he is modeling himself after the GOAT.

There is a bit of potential irony here. Maybe that’s not the right word. Foreshadowing? Remembrance? Label it how you want. You might think that an 11-year-old may not have a lot to offer on the golf course. You know who beat their dad when they were 11-years-old.

Tiger Woods. That’s who.

Earl was no professional golfer, but he still knew his way around a golf course. It would be an insane feat if Charlie was able to keep up with Tiger, and a worry for anyone else in the golf world to see someone barely in middle school competing with one of the greatest golfers to ever play.

It won’t be too long before you can watch them, as the PNC Championship will be played at The Grande Lakes course in Orlando on December 17th-20th. The event itself will happen over the weekend, with a Pro-Am on the 18th. You’ll be able to see it on Peacock, NBC, and the golf channel as well.

Tiger Woods and his son likely won’t win. I feel confident in saying that’s the last thing on Tiger’s mind as he plays alongside his son.
