Fantasy Golf: 2021 Sony Open Draftkings Player Selections

This week, the PGA presents fantasy golf fans with the 2021 Sony Open. Let’s take a look at the event from a Draftkings/DFS perspective.
Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to clearly state that the purpose of this article is not to provide a specific lineup. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a Draftkings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
Here are my Draftkings player selections for the 2021 Sony Open!
Ryan Palmer $9,200
Palmer arrives at this week’s 2021 Sony Open on the heels of two consecutive top four finishes on the PGA Tour, including a fourth place result at last week’s Sentry Tournament Of Champions.

In relation to this week’s current listed Sony Open field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Palmer ranks sixth in strokes gained tee to green, 11th in GIR (greens in regulation). and eighth in strokes gained on par fives.
Palmer also finished fourth at the 2020 Sony Open.
Matt Kuchar $8,400
Kuchar has played the Sony Open seven times since 2011. In those seven events played, Kuchar has six top 13 finishes, including a win at the 2019 Sony Open.
Charles Howell III $8,000
The American clearly loves playing this golf tournament. Charles Howell III has played the Sony Open every year since 2010. In those 11 events played, Howell III has six top eight finishes, including a third place result at the 2013 Sony Open. I think Howell III presents great win equity at the nice fantasy golf/Draftkings price of $8,000.
Emiliano Grillo $7,900
Grillo finished 21st at last year’s Sony Open. It should also be noted that Grillo has two consecutive top 18 finishes on the PGA Tour.
Matthew NeSmith $7,400
The 27 year old has three top 17 finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour, including a 15th place result at the RSM Classic in November.
