PGA Tour Fantasy Golf: The American Express Draftkings Picks

This week, the PGA Tour presents fantasy golf fans with the 2021 American Express. Let’s take a look at this event from a Draftkings/DFS perspective.

Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to clearly state that the purpose of this article is not to provide a specific lineup. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a Draftkings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Here are my Draftkings player selections for the 2021 American Express!

Sungjae Im $9,900

Since the beginning of September, Im has played 11 tournaments on the PGA Tour. In those 11 events just mentioned, Sungjae has six top 28 finishes, including a fifth place result at the Sentry Tournament Of Champions two weeks ago.

It should also be mentioned that Im has performed well at the American Express previously. Sungjae finished tenth at the 2020 American Express.

Scottie Scheffler $9,500

The 24 year old American has three top 19 finishes in his last four events on the PGA Tour, including a 13th place result at the Sentry Tournament Of Champions.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 American Express field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Scheffler ranks third in strokes gained off the tee, seventh in strokes gained around the green, and 20th in strokes gained off the tee.

Charles Howell III $7,800

The 41 year old has played the American Express 11 times since 2010. In those 11 events just mentioned, Howell III has six consecutive top 26 finishes, including a 12th place result at the 2018 American Express.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 American Express field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Howell III ranks ninth in GIR (greens in regulation). eighth in strokes gained putting, and 17th in strokes gained on par fives.

Howell III also checks the box for me when it comes to current form. Howell III has two consecutive top 23 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a 15th place result at the Sony Open last week.

Brendan Steele $7,300

The American fired a third round 61 at last week’s Sony Open en route to an eventual fourth place result. Steele also has three previous top 20 finishes at the American Express, including a sixth place result in 2017.

Kyoung-Hoon Lee $6,500

The South Korean shot a final round 64 at last week’s Sony Open on his way to a 19th place finish. Lee also finished 21st at the 2020 American Express. I think Lee presents outstanding fantasy golf value at the low Draftkings price of only $6,500.

Additional golfers I like this week: Tony Finau $10,500: John Huh $7,200.
