Tiger Woods has undergone a microdiscectomy procedure to remove a pressurized disc fragment. This fragment was apparently pinching a nerve and the procedure should fix the issue.

Woods experienced discomfort following the PNC Championship, where he paired with his son Charlie. There was no sign of Tiger showing pain during the event.

According to a statement released by Woods, doctors have determined that the surgery was successful and they expect him to make a full recovery. This is certainly good news for Woods and his fans.

Woods said, “I look forward to begin training and am focused on getting back out on Tour.

The statement also said that Woods will not be competing at Torrey Pines or Riviera. However, he is expected to serve as the tournament host at the Genesis Invitational.

So what, exactly, does this mean for Tiger’s future?

It’s hard to say at this point. Woods has undergone a number of operations during his career. The torque and force of his golf swing has given him knee, leg and back problems for a number of years.

The thing we do know is that Woods is now 45 years old. Recovering from surgeries or procedures or whatever he wants to call them is much more difficult at this age than it was when he first started having surgeries. It will take longer and be more difficult for Woods to bounce back.

However, we also know that Woods has proven to be resilient during his PGA Tour career. He has shown time and again that he will put in the work to do the necessary rehab and make it back to being the best version of himself that he can be.

Woods still has his sights set on reaching 18 major championship wins and that will never change. He will fight his way to get back to where he can play in all four majors this year, giving himself at least an opportunity to try to catch Jack Nicklaus’ majors mark.

Never count Tiger Woods out. He’s too much of a competitor. If his body will allow him to do so, expect him to be back in fine form in time for this year’s Masters.
