The PGA Tour, each week, has players who do better than expected and those who fall short of expectations. Here are Pro Golf Now, we call them winners and losers. Here are this week’s winners and losers from the American Express.

Winners

Si Woo Kim – He had a win in each of his first two seasons on tour but had not finished first or second since 2018. He broke that streak this week with a win at the American Express.

More from Pro Golf Now

Patrick Cantlay – His first two days at the American Express were not bad, but also not great, as he was T56. However, he had a huge weekend, shooting 65 on Saturday and a sizzling 61 on Sunday to finish second.

Cameron Davis – It was a very solid week for Davis, who shot an overshadowed 64 on Sunday to finish in third place. He jumped 64 spots in the FedEx Cup standings in the process.

Abraham Ancer – It was a T5 for Ancer this week in California. If not for a 73 on Saturday, it could have been even better. Still, this is a solid showing.

Michael Thompson – He rallied on the weekend, shooting 68-66 to climb into a tie for fifth place. He also jumped 37 spots in the FedEx Cup standings, from 100th to 63rd.

Losers

Tony Finau – In position to break his winless streak when the day began, Finau gave away a great chance to win. The streak is approaching five years with no wins for Finau.

Brooks Koepka – After saying early in the week that injuries should no longer be an excuse, Koepka promptly shot 72-71 and missed the cut at the American Express. So if it wasn’t the injuries, what was it?

Patrick Reed – He shot 68 on Thursday and appeared to be in good shape to make the cut. But a 75 on Friday dropped him not only out of contention, but outside the cut line.

Phil Mickelson – Lefty did something on Friday that he had never done before – he had 18 pars in a round on the PGA Tour. He still missed the cut this week and is trending more toward the PGA Tour Champions every time out.

Camilo Villegas – He appeared to be on his way to making another cut this week after shooting 69 on Thursday. But a 79 on Friday left him home for the weekend.
