Rory is coming off of a pretty good week at the Abu Dhabi HSBC, although he fell apart a bit on the final day as the leader coming into the last round, and finished in third place. He will head to the Farmers Insurance looking to earn his first PGA Tour win in 14 months, a longer streak than you would expect for one of the greatest players in the game.
Rahm, meanwhile, withdrew from last week’s event, although it wasn’t anything serious. He mentioned during an interview with Sirius XM host Colt Knost why he withdrew.
"“Truth is, I hurt myself in the gym on Friday. I’m taking time off now trying to be smart. I could play right now but I don’t want to make it worse,”"
Jon Rahm is at +700 and Rory is at +850, the clear favorites for the Farmers Insurance Open.
It isn’t just those two that are the only stars at this week’s tournament, as there is a load of talented and/or well-decorated golfers behind them. Xander Schauffele, Tony Finau, Patrick Reed, Hideki Matsuyama, Scottie Scheffler, and Viktor Hovland all sit behind them on the odds board.
It’s a nice little treat to end the month of January on, getting to see this many talented golfers in one place. Yes, we don’t have Beefy Bryson, DJ, or Koepka, but you wouldn’t expect to see everyone except for a handful of events.
Do you think it’s going to be Rahm or Rory that wins this week? What about the next tier? Will someone else make a push to the top? Let us know below and start the discussion on who you think is going to win this week at the Farmers Insurance Open.
