Many in the fantasy golf community consider the Farmers Insurance Open as the real kickoff of the PGA Tour season due to the stacked field of talent that always shows up for this tournament. Let’s see if we can find a list of golfers in this quality field that can help us win a DFS GPP tournament this week!

The 2021 Farmers Insurance Open will be played at Torrey Pines in California. Fantasy golf fans should be mindful of the fact that this event will be played on two different golf courses, the Torrey Pines North and South courses. The entire field of players will play both courses in the first two rounds of the tournament on Thursday and Friday. Upon completion of the second round of play on Friday afternoon, a cut will take place. The remaining 65 players and ties will play the remainder of the golf tournament (third and fourth rounds) on the South course.

The key statistics that I am focusing on for this week’s event are GIR (greens in regulation), strokes gained approach, driving distance and scrambling.

*Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to clearly state that the purpose of this article is not to provide a specific lineup. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a Draftkings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Here are my fantasy golf/Draftkings player selections for the 2021 Farmers insurance Open!

Rory McIlroy $11,000

Since the beginning of September, McIlroy has played seven tournaments (PGA and European Tours combined). In those seven events just mentioned, Rory has six top 17 finishes, including a third place finish at last week’s Abu Dhabi Championship.

I also like the fact that Rory has played exceptionally well at Torrey Pines previously. McIlroy has two consecutive top five finishes at the Farmers Insurance Open, including a third place result in last year’s event.

Ryan Palmer $8,400

The 44 year old Texan has three top 17 finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour, including a fourth place result at the Sentry Tournament Of Champions.

Cameron Davis $7,900

The Australian finished third at last week’s American Express. In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 Farmers Insurance field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Davis ranks third in birdie or better percentage, seventh in strokes gained on par fives, and 13th in strokes gained tee to green.

Gary Woodland $7,800

The 36 year old has quite an impressive record at the Farmers Insurance Open. Since 2009, Woodland has played the Farmers Insurance Open ten times. In those 11 events played at Torrey Pines, Woodland has an impressive five top 20 finishes, including a ninth place result in 2019.

Woodland also finished 16th at last week’s American Express.

John Huh $7,000

The 30 year old American arrives at the week’s Farmers Insurance Open on the heels of three consecutive top 21 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a 12th place result at the RSM Classic in November. Huh also finished 25th at the 2019 Farmers Insurance Open.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 Farmers Insurance field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Huh ranks 13th in GIR (greens in regulation) and tenth in strokes gained tee to green.

I think Huh presents outstanding fantasy golf value at the low Draftkings price of only $7,000.

Next. Brooks Koepka: 2021 FedEx Cup Contender or Pretender?. dark

Additional golfers I like this week: Tony Finau $10,700: Adam Scott $8,300: Talor Gooch $7,600.

As always, good luck with your fantasy golf lineups! Enjoy watching the 2021 Farmers Insurance Open.
