The first round of the 2021 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am starts on Thursday morning. As a fantasy golf fan myself, I enjoy playing Draftkings showdown contests. Having stated that, I thought it was appropriate that I write an article covering this week’s Draftkings first round showdown slate!

Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections I want to clearly state that this article is specifically focused on the first round showdown contest. The showdown contest is vastly different with regard to scoring than the traditional contest offered by Draftkings for DFS golf.

More from Pro Golf Now

If you are not familiar with the rules for the showdown contest I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

*Keep in mind that the first two rounds of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am will be contested on two different golf courses (Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course). This is highly relevant to the Draftkings first round slate as half the field will play Spyglass and half will play Pebble Beach in round one.

Here are my Draftkings player selections for the first round showdown contest!

Jordan Spieth $9,600

Death, taxes, and Jordan Spieth playing well at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Spieth has played this week’s PGA Tour event every year since 2015. In those six events played, Spieth has five top 21 finishes, including a win at the 2017 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Brendan Steele $8,200

Steele arrives at this week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the heels of three consecutive top 30 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a fourth place finish at the Sony Open last month.

Additionally, over the course of the last month, Steele has been playing well to start golf tournaments. More specifically, in his last three first rounds played on the PGA Tour, Steele’s average score is 67.66.

Peter Malnati $7,900

Two weeks ago, the American fired a first round 66 at the Farmers Insurance Open on his way to a tenth place finish. Malnati also finished 11th at the 2020 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Doug Ghim $7,600

Ghim has three top 18 finishes in his last six events played on the PGA Tour, including a fifth place finish at the American Express last month. I think Ghim presents good fantasy golf value at a Draftkings price of only $7,600.

Michael Thompson $7,300

The 35 year old has three top 25 finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour. In that four tournament span just mentioned, Thompson fired a final round 66 at the American Express.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 AT&T Pebble Pro-Am field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Thompson ranks sixth in strokes gained around the green and sixth in bogey avoidance.

dark. Next. Brooks Koepka: 2021 FedEx Cup Contender or Pretender?

Additional golfers I like: Kevin Streelman $8,900: Henrik Norlander $8,400: Joseph Bramlett $6,900.

As always, good luck with your fantasy golf lineups!
