Greg Chalmers has seen some success on the PGA Tour during his lengthy pro career. However, Friday in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am was not one of the days he will discuss when his time on tour is over.

Chalmers has won more than $10 million during his PGA Tour career. He won the 2016 Barracuda Championship for his only tour victory, but he has also had a pair of runner-up finishes and 24 Top 10s overall.

He shot 72 at Pebble Beach on Friday and was lurking near the cut line as he began play at Spyglass Hill on Friday. And his round started rather quietly.

Chalmers would par the first six holes of his round, staying steady at even par at that point. He would bogey the par-5 seventh hole to slip to 1-over par. But he parred both the eighth and ninth holes to shoot 1-over par 37 on his front nine.

But on the back nine, his round went completely off the rails.

He parred the 10th and 11th holes but the 12th hole proved to be his undoing. Chalmers hit not one but two balls into the water on the par three. Even after his multiple drops, he had trouble getting the ball in the hole. Ultimately, he would record an eight. A snowman is never good, but it’s especially bad on a par three.

Chalmers then bogeyed the par-4 13th hole to slip to 7-over on his round. It was over for him at that point anyway.

He would par the 14th and 15th holes, but he bogeyed the 16th to slip to 8-over on his round. Chalmers then parred the 17th hole.

On 18, he apparently decided to go out with a bang. On the par four, Chalmers hit his tee shot out of bounds. He teed up again and found the fairway with his third shot. His fourth would land in the rough and his fifth finally got him on the green. He needed two putts to finish off his triple-bogey seven. That left him with a 10-over par 46 on the back nine and an 83 for the day.

For Chalmers, it was a day that went from bad to worse, especially on the last seven holes.
