Justin Rose: How He Went 3-5-2-6-3-6 on Saturday
By Tim Letcher
Justin Rose is nowhere near the top of the leader board at this week’s PGA Tour stop, the WGC-Workday Championship. However, that does not mean that Rose did not do something noteworthy, which he certainly did on Saturday.
After shooting 73 on Thursday and 71 on Friday, Rose was at even par through 36 holes. He was 11 shots behind Brooks Koepka, who held the second round lead.

Rose’s round didn’t get off to a great start, which would be indicative of the type of day he would have. He parred the first hole, then bogeyed the second and third holes to slip to 2-over par.
He parred the next three holes, seeming to get things back in order after a less than ideal start. However, on the par-5 seventh hole, Rose struggled, including going bunker to bunker on consecutive shots. He ended up making a double bogey and dropped to 4-over par on his round.
Rose birdied the eighth hole but followed that with a bogey on the ninth. He shot a 4-over par 40 on his front nine.
Things really got interesting for Rose on the back nine.
He started with pars on the 10th and 11th holes before a stretch of holes that saw him post a stretch of unique scores on six consecutive holes. It started on the par-4 12th hole, where Rose knocked his approach shot about 12 feet from the hole, then rolled in the putt for a birdie three.
On the par-5 13th hole, Rose hit the green and two-putted for a routine par five. Then on the par-3 14th hole, Rose hit his approach to about six feet and made the putt for a birdie two.
But on the par-4 15th hole, Rose hit his tee shot in the water. He finally got on the green in four and very nearly made a 30-foot putt for a bogey. Instead, he settled for a double-bogey six.
Rose bounced right back on the par-4 16th hole. He hit the green in regulation, then drained a long putt for a birdie three. However, more trouble followed as Rose made a six on the par-5 17th hole.
So, if you’re scoring at home, Rose went 3-5-2-6-3-6 over the stretch of six holes. Quite an adventure for him and something that is fun to examine for us.
