PGA Tour Fantasy Golf: 2021 The Players Championship Draftkings Picks
By Hans Geevers
This Thursday, the PGA Tour will present fantasy golf fans with the 2021 Players. This event is one of the most prestigious events of the year. Due to that fact, the 2021 Players will feature an exceptionally strong field, including 2020 Masters champion Dustin Johnson.
Before I discuss my fantasy golf selections let’s take a quick look at the golf course!

The 2021 Players Championship will be played at the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The golf course is a par 72 that measures 7,189 yards. It should be noted that water hazards are in play on 14 holes. For those readers that are not aware, TPC Sawgrass is perhaps best known for it’s picturesque island green par three 17th hole. The field will also have to contend with 88 sand traps that are strategically placed throughout the golf course.
*Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to clearly state that the purpose of this article is not to provide a specific lineup. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a Draftkings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
Here are my Draftkings/fantasy golf player selections for the 2021 Players.
Webb Simpson $9,500
The 35 year old has two top six finishes in his last three events on the PGA Tour, including a fourth place result at the Sony Open last month.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 Players field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Simpson ranks second in scrambling, 16th in strokes gained tee to green, and eighth in strokes gained around the green.
It should also be noted that Simpson won the 2018 Players Championship.
Hideki Matsuyama $8,700
The 29 year old was the first round leader at the 2020 Players. Unfortunately for Hideki, that tournament was canceled. Matsuyama arrives at this year’s Players in decent form. To be more specific, Hideki has two consecutive top 18 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a 15th place result at the WGC Workday Championship @ Concession two weeks ago.
Jason Day $8,000
Day certainly appears to like playing the TPC Sawgrass Stadium course. The Australian has played the Players Championship nine times in his career. In those nine events just mentioned, Day has five top 19 finishes, including a win in 2016. Day will also arrive at this year’s Players on the heels of three top 31 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a seventh place result at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout $7,100
The 26 year old South African has five top 22 finishes in his last seven events played (European and PGA Tours combined), including a seventh place result at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Cameron Tringale $7,200
Tringale has five top 26 finishes in his last six tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a seventh place result at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am last month. Tringale also finished 16th at the 2016 Players Championship.
Additional golfers I like: Bryson DeChambeau $9,700: Tommy Fleetwood $7,900: Keegan Bradley $6,900.
As always, good luck with your fantasy golf lineups!
