Yes, I know that the Masters is a week away. I can’t wait to see the year’s first major championship next week! However, before we get to Augusta National, fantasy golf fans will be treated to this week’s 2021 Valero Texas Open.

The 2021 Valero Open will be played at TPC San Antonio (AT&T Oaks Course) in San Antonio, Texas. The AT&T Oaks Course has hosted the Valero Texas Open since 2002. It should be noted that the Valero Texas Open was not played in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Corey Conners is the defending champion of this event. Conners won the 2019 Valero Texas Open with a cumulative four round score of 20 under par.

*Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to clearly state that the purpose of this article is not to provide a specific lineup. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a Draftkings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Here are my Draftkings/fantasy golf player selections for the 2021 Valero Texas Open.

Jordan Spieth $10,700

The three time major champion arrives at this week’s Valero Texas Open playing some outstanding golf. Spieth has five top 15 finishes in his last six events played on the PGA Tour, including a fourth place result at the Arnold Palmer Invitational earlier this month.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 Valero Texas Open field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Spieth ranks third in strokes gained approach, second in strokes gained ball striking, and tenth in GIR (greens in regulation).

Charley Hoffman $9,200

Hoffman has four top 17 finishes in his last seven events played on the PGA Tour, including a tenth place result at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

If you are looking for a golfer to fit the course horse narrative than look no further as you have found your man. That man’s name is Charley Hoffman. Hoffman has played the Valero Texas Open every year since 2010. In those ten events played, Hoffman has an impressive eight top 13 finishes, including a win at the 2016 Valero Texas Open.

Brendan Steele $9,100

The American has two top 18 finishes in his last three events played on the PGA Tour, including a third place result at the Honda Classic earlier this month. It should also be noted that Steele won the 2011 Valero Texas Open.

Graeme McDowell $6,700

The 41 year old fired a final round 69 at last week’s Corales Puntacana Championship en route to an eventual fourth place finish. McDowell finished seventh at the 2019 Valero Texas Open. In my opinion, McDowell presents outstanding fantasy golf value at a Draftkings price of only $6,700.

Additional golfers I like this week: Keegan Bradley $8,400: Sam Ryder $7,400: Harry Higgs $7,100.
