Players hoping to make the Masters had until the end of the WGC-Match Play to get into the field. Turns out that three players who had not yet qualified to play at Augusta National earned invites based on the latest version of the Official World Golf Rankings.

Will Zalatoris secured a spot in the Masters with a No. 45 ranking after last week’s play. Zalatoris, still just 24 years old, has made 13 cuts in 14 starts on the PGA Tour this season. He has five Top 10 finishes, with his best showing being a tie for fifth at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in October.

Also making it to Augusta is Robert MacIntyre, who had a strong showing at the WGC-Match Play last week. MacIntyre, a native of Scotland, won his group before falling to the red-hot Victor Perez in the round of 16. Still, his standing as the No. 44 player in the world gets him an invitation to Augusta for this year’s Masters.

Brian Harman made the biggest move to get inside the Top 50 this week. Harman won his group at the WGC-Match Play, then beat Bubba Watson in the round of 16. He fell to Matt Kuchar in the quarterfinals but his finish was enough to allow Harman to jump 10 spots into 49th place, good enough to earn a spot at the Masters.

For these three players, the Masters invitations are well-deserved. Zalatoris is a rising star on the PGA Tour, MacIntyre, who is also just 24 years old, is well-respected on the European Tour. Both will be making their first Masters appearance. Harman is a player who has gotten hot lately, with a T3 at the Players Championship and T5 last week. He will be making his third Masters appearance but first since 2018.
